Watchmen of the Night and Declarers of The Day

Isaiah 21:11 The burden of Dumah. He calls to me out of Seir, Watchman, what of the night? Watchman, what of the night? 12 The watchman said, The morning comes, and also the night: if ye will enquire, enquire ye: return, come.

As a young believer who answered the call to ministry the scripture above was a mystery. I understood that God's people are called his watchmen, but that is about all the scripture spoke to me. Then, as I began to grow in the things of God I began to observe some things I wondered about, and had to pray for a better understanding of. I was observing that there are many Christian voices who seemed to be saying two different things. Some, I thought, were speaking against an individual while others were speaking great promises over the same individual. I had to search for a right understanding. It was confusing, and scripture teaches that God is not author of confusion. As I continued to seek, a better understanding has come.As God speaks more clearly to his prophets than he does to many, we can learn some deeper things by listening hard to them.

The watchmen will say, "What of the night?" But, I say, the morning comes -- the night is far spent and the day is at hand.

The revelation this watchman was sharing shed more light on the scripture meaning. The "but, I say" phrase was illuminated to me. I saw that it was a two part message. The watchman is saying, "there is day and there is night" but was declaring "BUT, the morning comes".

What Of The Night?

In scripture night represents areas of spiritual darkness, and day represents the truth of Jesus, the morning star, the light of the world. There is at all times the darkness of spiritual ignorance to contend against, and at all times the promise of the light of the day. There is darkness in one place, but what about the promise of the morning?

One example that is very visible to us at this present time is the matter of many of the policy decisions of our government. So much coming out of these offices is contrary to God's laws. The righteous realize that a land which allows itself to be ruled by unrighteousness will come to ruin. God will not be mocked, we reap what we sow. Therefore, there is a righteous and just outcry from various anointed watchmen. These are diligently speaking God's wisdom over legislature that God has given them wisdom about and in so doing they often names names and counsel us in who to hear or not hear. God cannot be deceived, and he reveals secrets to his people for the good of all. Satan is a deceiver and a liar, and the truth is that he works through unlearned men. He hides his agendas under cloaks of lies and deception.

BUT, The Morning Comes!

Meanwhile, God's word of promise of the coming morning is being declared by several key prophets. The Lord's intent to reconcile to himself many of our rulers is a promise of a morning that can come. Many men who are being used as instruments of darkness can be rescued! God loves all men and through the work of the blood of Christ there is redemption. God knows that some are simply naive, and are deceived by the enemy, believing they are doing God a favor.

I am saying this to point out to us that God has not forgotten us. That he has watchmen in various places who have been anointed with various gifts and speak his words with various voices.

For example there are many who are spiritual watchmen but are called marketplace ministers. These are gifted and are anointed to deal with this spiritual opposition to God's purposes at the source, at various levels, in the congress and the courts. Righteous and anointed laymen; lawyers, many righteous senators, and ministers of matters pertaining to the family are waging spiritual battles against spiritual strategies of the kingdom of darkness. Righteous pastors and leaders are speaking out in the pulpit against agreement with President Obama's policies, but educating their sheep concerning our need to pray for him and all his staff in mercy. God's anointed speak truth in love; when bitterness and hate are present, rest assured that God is not in it.The watchman always considers the mercies of blood redemption as he ministers.

Prayer Armies

Many strong intercessors are praying these words of healing revival into manifestation. The promise has come forth, but only believing prayers will bring the promise from heaven into earth. As we observe and pray through to a more mature understanding we must honor and support God's purpose through each minister he has appointed. The true church of God is responsible for speaking his truth to government.

Ephesians 3:10 ... His intent was that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known to the rulers and authorities

Rulers who are working contrary to truth have since the beginning of time been watched over by God through his people. Consider the matter of Daniel and his prayer team against the unrighteous decrees of his appointed king, Nebuchaezzar. God dealt with the King in his right way after he refused the warning of God's prophet Daniel. Stripes is what this is called in scripture; as when a Father spanks his son. When the King repented and came to the knowledge that the heavens rule, he was restored and turned back to God.

And also consider that Daniel was also charged with speaking a hard word of judgment unto death to unrepentant kings, as King Nebuchaezzar's son. We who call ourselves believers must seek the Lord to understand his "now" word over any situation and do whatever it takes to get into agreement with his judgments.Scriptural backup in Daniel 2 and Daniel 4.

I certainly do not make any claim to have all the answers, but I do offer these thoughts about the little I do see. God is at all times searching hearts; those who name his name must not just talk the talk, they must walk the walk. He looks for faith in his people. God is able to do more than we can ask or think, but he works according to the power in his body of believers. We must mature in the faith in order to be effective against spiritual ignorance. We must never fail to do our part and "Enquire" of the Lord!
