Water

Water will be the next precious commodity. Bigger than gold, oil or Uranium; all of which we can live without, clean water becomes more scarce every day. Every living thing requires hydration. Why do you think we equate dust with death? Yet we continue to piss it away. Today Wisconsin thinks there's too much of it but give them a few years of Georgia drought and they will hijack the nearby Great Lakes.

Why the hell do you think T. Boone Pickens has taken his oil money and invested it in underground aquifers? I weep every time it rains and I watch the incredible waste of run off. Every home in America should be equipped with a cistern. We should be saving water like lucre. Many, many people live in poverty but after a few days without water, you are dead.

The history of mankind is a study of ignorance and laziness. For how long did we think '˜there's plenty to burn' or that visual displays of abundance indicated the inexhaustible? Go to the well once too often and you will find it dry. Farmers used to be the smartest people on the planet now they must be considered the dumbest having been sold the corporate lie of unsustainable monoculture. Forests, prairies and wetlands, the life giving homes of biodiversity are reclaimed everyday for the want of short term profit.

Idiots like Brazil's Pres. Lula de Silva are praised by the world for raising his country's GDP and bringing many Brazilians out of poverty by systematically raising the Amazon basin to plant soybeans, cane and raise hamburger meat. For a supposedly modern country to encourage primitive slash and burn land management is a crime against humanity.

China having the world's oldest large population has developed a using culture. Everything is eaten. Now they accept the world's resources and use the population to crank out an never ending stream of crap. Modern economies develop highly leveraged systems to support our insatiable desire for disposables and the only visible enrichment is seen in the landfills. China will inevitably fail.

The other dense population of India will succeed in the long run because of their belief in reincarnation, which is a grand recycling scheme. In India everything is precious. Things are used and reused until they evaporate. The Ganges is not only a place of worship it is rightly a god source. Any culture wise enough to worship water will succeed.

The initial success of America was based on our escapism. We are an immigrant nation. All of us have fled the old to embrace the new. Our culture ultimately is about discovery and that means we will eventually find our way. Of course, this is not a direct flight. Today our wrongful propensity toward conservatism is propelled by a fear driven desire for a falsified depiction of a nonexistent ideal. Although we have been warned against false gods, they exist and that is the danger of faith. Our natural propensity is toward progression and diversity and this will be our salvation. I am by nature a fisherman, therefore imbued with patience. My country is revolutionary, prone to mistakes and at heart good natured. Before the recent hype of super nationalism we were who we are and happy with it.
