The latest movie to star Robert Pattinson, Water For Elephants, is not due for release until 15th April 2011, however Robert Pattinson fans can now watch the official trailer for Water For Elephants on YouTube.

As well as Robert Pattinson (Twilight Saga), Water For Elephants stars Reese Witherspoon (Legally Blonde) and Christoph Waltz (Inglourious Basterds) and a host of other stars, and it's already one of the most anticipated new movies of 2011.

Currently in post-production, Water For Elephants is adapted from the book of the same name by Sara Gruen , and tells the story of an old man (played by Hal Holbrook) who reflects back on his life, having run away and joined the circus following the tragic death of his parents, abandoning his training to be a veterinarian.

The book/movie takes place in the Depression Era, and follows the story of his life in the circus, and the abuse and filthy conditions that the animals have to put up with there. With his veterinary training he soon becomes responsible for the menagerie, and the story focuses in part on the plight of the elephants.

As is often the case, there are people with complex personalities employed at the circus, including the mentally ill, the drunk, the sadistic, and with the group living in close company with each other, there is also the expected love story to go along with it.

As you might expect, Robert Pattinson ends up falling in love with Reese Witherspoon, the two having bonded together over one of the elephants. Reese however is the wife of the animal trainer (Christoph Waltz), who is a certified paranoid schizophrenic, who suffers from bouts of madness and sadistic brutality, often aimed at Robert Pattinson.

This is a story about love, but it's not a love story. It's at times dark, cruel, and the circus is by most circus standards far below the average, even for the Depression Era.

For now at least fans of Robert Pattinson will have to make do with watching the movie trailer, but 15th April 2011 is at least only 4 months away.

As well as Water For Elephants, Robert Pattinson stars in the movie Bel Ami, which is also in post-production and due for release in 2011. he is also currently filming both parts of the next in the Twilight Saga movies, Breaking Dawn, which are due to be released in 2011 and 2012.

I want to see it, but I have a hard time watching animal abuse (or any abuse really). But I think I'll be reading the book, at least!

This sounds like a good story and I know they treated animals badly back then, but I'm not sure I could watch it.

I'm with Michele on this. I couldn't watch abuse of animals. But I am grateful you reviewed it, now I don't have to subject myself to it.

I love Reese so I'll see it for sure. I'm not a big Pattinson fan though.
