Summer is Here, and Water is a Great Source of Fun for You and Your Kids!

Summer is here, and that means it's time for some fun in the sun and the water! Water activities are such a healthy way to exercise and move that body! Water is an excellent resistor which provides natural muscle work and keeps you cool on those hot summer days. Grab some of these ideas and head for the nearest beach for a guaranteed fun day!

Water Volleyball is a favorite beach activity. There are many floating volley ball nets on the market that can be set up in the water. Set the net up in water that is about 3 feet deep for maximum fun! Forfeit all rules and pass the ball as you can, avoiding the ball landing in the water! Even a net set up on the beach or the grass near the pool can be tons of fun on a hot summer day. Play a game, and then go for a dip to cool off! Even if you are not a volley ball player, you will love splashing around with friends and family playing this fun game! This is a game you can play for years, and will lead to many fun memories being made! Just thinking about this fun water activity makes me want to call my friends and head down to the beach for a water volleyball game!

Two floating basketball hoops can create a water basket ball court for a wet and wild game of basketball! Although you can't dribble the ball, passing and splashing through the water while aiming for the hoop is tons of fun for everyone! This game can be played with adults, but is also so much fun for the youth! Kids of all ages love to play basket ball and love to cheer their friends on when they make a shot. With all the splashing and ball play, there will be smiles and laughs all around!

Beach balls of all sizes are welcome in any body of water! Everyone loves to play Catch and invent other fun games with the beach ball. Playing Keep Away in the water is three times more fun in the water. Split your group into teams and play Air Ball to see which team can keep the ball in the air for the longest while tossing it around. Play a rendition of "Hot Potato" by forming a circle and passing the ball around to the music. When the music stops, the person holding the ball is out. There are so many other games you can invent on the spot when you combine water, friends and a beach ball!

For the little ones in your group, sand toys are tons of fun on a beach, but can double as water toys. Filling buckets with water and shoveling the water can provide hours of entertainment for kids of all ages. Sand sifters create water showers when held over a hand or even your head! With some creative energy, sand toys can easily become water toys!

A toy fishing kit is also great fun in the water. Floating fish can be "caught" with a magnetic fishing "hook". Kids love catching, reeling in and then releasing these toy fish. This is a skill that can be formed early and then eventually your child can use a real fishing pole to catch some yummy fish on your favorite lake or river!

The options for fun in the water are endless! Since summer is short, make the most of your time by heading down to your favorite swimming spot for some great fun. Grab the beach ball, nets and toys for a memorable day in the water!
