Waterman's Restuarnat, Ocean City MD

Cathy Pelekakis
I live in Baltimore, MD and we are only a hundred and fifty miles from the shores. So on any given weekend we can go to Ocean City for the weekend and still be back into town on Sunday evening to go to work on a Monday morning. We have been going to Ocean City for years, and when we would go down Route 50 right before you go over the bridge to get into Ocean City proper on the left hand side of the road is this great seafood restuarant called Waterman's.

Now understand if looks are what you go on before you enter a resturarant this would not be a real pleasant site. However it is a resort and the place does not have to look good on the outside, it is what is inside that counts. There is plenty of parking and the lines start to form for seating around four o'clock in the afternoon. This is an all you can eat crab buffet. There are benches outside that line the out door walls, and you can sit and chit chat before you get your table. There is a small bar directly across from Waterman's parking lot, that is where you buy your beer to take into the resturant with you, they do not have a liquor license and cannot sell you the beer, however they have no objection with you bringing your own in with you.

Go with an appetite, they will sit you in picnic style tables, pull out large rolls of brown paper to cover the table and you can order all the crabs you can eat for under $30.00 a person, what you get is not only the steamed crabs, you also get all the soda, the steaed shrimp, and endless plates of steamed corn on the cob. They keep bringing you steamed crabs until you say you have had enough. The waiters will bring just enough so that your steamed crabs are always hot and you can see the steam roll off the top. The steamed crabs are seasoned well with Old Bay and it tastes great. The steamed corn on the cob comes to you on plates that are held high and they are still in their husks, they also are steamed with a bit of Old Bay, they are great.

It is a wonderful little restuarant, that you do not mind standing in line to wait for your meal. When you go to waterman's you go in your shorts and tee shirts, you do not have to dress up to eat steamed crabs. You will have a great time at a really good price. I hope you enjoy this resturant as much as we do.
