On September 18, my friends and I visited Waterstone Pizza (located on Jefferson Street in Lynchburg, Virginia,) for my friend, Sean's, birthday celebration. We had high hopes as soon as we got to the doors, because we were starving, and whatever was wafting out, smelled delicious.
I'd been told tales of hour-long waits at this place, due to its popularity and close proximity to a nice hotel. However, me and my three dinner companions, were seated right away.
Our drink orders were taken in a very efficient, timely manner, as we pa-roused the menu. Everything looked so great! I was torn between getting a Greek salad or Rustica pizza, but eventually decided on the pizza and a half-size of the salad. My dinner companions ordered equally appetizing-looking pizzas and salads.
First off, the salads are the best salads I have ever seen. I can't speak for those that got the Caesar salads, but my Greek salad was amazing. A rare find, it was a pefect combination of salad and dressing. I couldn't have been happier with it.
Then, our pizzas arrived. These pizzas are each ten inches, and ranged in price from about eight dollars, to ten dollars... and worth every penny! My Rustica pizza, which was topped with red sauce, proscuitto, mushrooms, artichoke hearts, black olives, roasted garlic, and cheese, was scrumptious, even though I ended up not being a fan of proscuitto.
While we ate, the birthday boy and I split a beer sampler, which was a steal for six samples of their own Jefferson Street Brewery beer, for around ten dollars. The samples were generous, and we each got to drink quite a bit. Out of the six beers, I had three favorites: Oatmeal Stout, Honey Wheat, and, I believe, the Amber. If you enjoy Blue Moon Honeymoon Ale as much as I do, you'd love the Honey Wheat.
Finally, were the desserts. The birthday boy and I split a tiramisu that was heaven in our mouths. It was, by far, the best tiramisu I've ever had. If that wasn't amazing enough, his girlfriend let us taste her lemon cheesecake, which is about the best thing I've ever tasted. There was no air in the cheesecake at all, and it was a huge, dense slice.
Throughout our meal, we had incredible, friendly service with a smile.
When the bill came, my husband and I had 2 pizzas, the Greek salad, two sodas, a split beer sampler, and a split dessert, and we only had a bill of $36. Not bad at all!
All in all, as you can see, Waterstone Pizza was amazing. If I had to give it a rating, I honestly would have to give it a ten out of a ten. I knew we were walking into a great place, but we had no idea how great.
With the prices being decent and the amount of great service and great food we got, we are definitely going back... and soon!
