First of all you need to make sure that the hair is long enough or wax hair removal wont' work. Regardless as to whether you are using hot wax hair removal or cold wax hair removal, you will need to have some hair to adhere too. So, if the hair is too short, then not all of the hair will be caught.
Women should never undergo waxing hair removal within a week of their monthly cycle. Studies have shown that women are more susceptible to pain at this time. If you have a low pain threshold at other times, then you may want to take some ibuprofen before you get your waxing done.
If you have sensitive skin or any skin conditions, make sure that the wax that is being used contains chamomile. This will cut down on the irritation of your skin during the hair removal process. It is also a good idea to only apply the wax in small areas. Throughout the process you will need to be patient and calm, especially the first time when you will be extra sensitive. Things will get easier with each time you have this process done.
Once each strip of hair is removed by the wax, pressure should be applied to the skin in order to stop the pain. If your technician doesn't do this for you, make sure that you do it yourself. You should also make sure that you exfoliate within 24 hours with either a loofah sponge or with an exfoliant that contains salicylic acid. This will help unplug your pores and get rid of any dead skin cells. It is also important to resist the urge to shave or you will have to start all over again with the waxing process.
Waxing hair removal can last from two weeks to three months depending upon the technique used, your hair type and your ethnicity. Each time the hair grows back it will get both finer and lighter. The skin area will also toughen so that it will be less painful each time too.
