If you are not ready to open up your heart to freedom and to embrace a new culture and language, then becoming an American citizen may not be for you, but if you are ready to work hard and prosper, then start the paperwork.
The easiest and most preferred way to become a U.S. Citizen is by joining the U.S. military. The U.S. Military created a fast track to citizenship program when George Bush was in office. Any foreign born individual that wants to join the military and sticks with it until they have fulfilled their commitment will receive a fast track to U.S. citizenship.
This program is only available to individuals that qualify for the military and are therefore under the age of 28, which is the maximum age to join the military. Contact the U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, U.S. Marines, U.S. Air Force or U.S. Coastguard to find out more information. Contact the U.S. Embassy in your country if you are outside of the United States.
Apply for citizenship to become a U.S. citizen. If you are currently in the United States of America, you can contact the Immigration and Naturalization Service to fill out the paperwork to become an American citizen. This is a long path, but it can be very successful. Most likely, you will need to return to your home country while the paperwork is being processed because it may take years. You must return home once your work, school or travel visa expires or you will not get back into the U.S. next time.
Another way to become a U.S. citizen is by marrying one. Only marry an American citizen if you actually want to marry them. Don't marry only for the purpose of becoming a citizen because that is illegal and they will find out. To dissuade individuals from marrying just for citizenship, immigration officials have made it a very long process. It takes seven years to finalize.
These are the three most common ways to marry a U.S. Citizen. If you need more help, contact the immigration and naturalization service.
