Ways to Celebrate Anti Valentine's Day
Six Ways to Not Let Valentine's Day Get You Down If You're Single
Hook up with other singles and attend an Anti Valentine's Day Event at a local bar or club. Scour the local internet sites to find bars or clubs that are offering Anti-Valentine's Day themes. Some venues waive cover charges and offer free gifts to singles in the spirit of the whole V day antithesis. February 14th falls on a Saturday this year so you won't even have to worry about coming in to work hungover the next day.
Attend a passion party for at least part of the night (ladies only). There's nothing that celebrates being single like attending a party that's marketing autoerotic accessories. And hey, at least you'll have a back up if you can't find someone attractive to come home with you later in the night.
Go shopping. Buy yourself something that you would normally receive on February 14th. If you can't think of anything that meets this criterion, buy a new outfit or something that augments your appearance.
Go to dinner with your best friend. Is there any rule that says going out to dinner for Valentine's Day has to be with a romantic partner? If Carrie and Miranda can do it, so can you.
Throw away all the stuff from your ex that you've been hanging on to. Are you still harboring some keepsakes from your ex that might be secretly keeping you from moving on? Show your Anti-Valentine's Day spirit by chucking all these things away forever. The same idea can apply to shrines, clothing, or gifts your ex bought for you.
Stay at home, get drunk off of wine, watch romantic comedy movies all night and cry after you become sufficiently drunk and feel sorry for yourself because you're single on Valentine's Day. Just kidding. Whatever you do, don't do this. After all, February 14th is just some day Chaucer and his chums conjured because people of his day were getting obsessed with courtship. Find some friends or family and do whatever it is you normally do on a Saturday night and pay no heed to the holiday.

Post a CommentI am very sentimental.... I still have in my high school year book, my very first Valentine! My very first boyfriend gave to me as we were high school sweethearts. I loved it then and i still to this day. That for me among many cards that I have saved are precious. I have every single card ever giving to me from each Christmas in fact. I display though out the house various cards from special loved ones that I admire as a reminder of them. You know some of the people that sent to us Christmas cards are no longer here and just to see the signatures or re-read what was on them gives me happiness. (I can tangibly hold a memory). I can't tell you how much sentimental value I place on those sorta things. Throwing away anything makes me sad. I always left or parted an old boy friend as a "friend" so for me I embrace what they took the time out to give me or made for me... as in that very first 'hand made' Valentine Day's card nestled between the pages of my year book.
I agree with Kat. Unless we had amazing experiences with our exes, I think all memories should be erased. Great tips. Check out the article I wrote on the same topic!
Thanks for your comment on my article of the same topic. I love your idea of using the day to throw out the gifts you may be holding on to from an ex, and get a fresh start romantically.
