Types of Vacations
Family fun vacations come in the form of resort that cater to fitness, well being and incorporating lifestyle changes. The resorts are staffed with trainers, health food chefs and even counselors to help the family begin the journey to fitness. Weight loss camps (colloquially known as fat camps) are another alternative. They less luxurious that a resort, resembling the traditional sleep-away camp. Families stay in cabins, participate in competitive and group activities, as well as group counseling sessions.
Outdoor trips like hiking, kayaking, skiing and rafting are the type that families create on their own or participate as a group activity with another family. They are essentially the family performing physical activities in a much less structured manner than resorts and camps. The family works together or with a group to make it from one point to another, honing map, reliance and endurance skills among others.
Activities
The activities at geared toward fitness and creating a lifestyle change or the beginnings of one for the family. Resort activities may consist of exercises classes and session held by a licensed trainer. Hikes and other activities are also par for the course, but the resort regimen is usually based on organize fitness classes, seminars and training.
Weight loss camp activities are much like those at sleep-away. Day trips for hikes, swimming, kayaking, canoeing, biking and similar activities are the norm. Activities also include competitive events like relays make the fitness more fun. Talent competitions are also a part of some curriculums.
Significance of Outdoor Activities
Outdoor vacations such as hike, rafting, canoe/kayak trips all have the activity built in. The family starts at point A and over the course of days or weeks, the goal is to make it to point B. The entire family must pitch in the live and eat out in the outdoor environments, while moving to the meet the daily goals.
Family Bonding
Bonding in the resort and camp locations is largely mediated by counselors, trainers and other personnel who work with the family to meet weight loss goals and to change their lifestyle. Outdoor activities support family bonding through reliance one each member in order to meet the daily goals or to finish the activity.
Something to Consider
The camp and resort activities are best for families who are new to the fitness lifestyle or who have been pout of the lifestyle for quite some time. The environment is structured and the activities are safe. Extended outdoor trips (more than a day) should be left to experienced families or those who are moving with an experienced guide or group geared toward family fitness. Such trips are fraught with dangers because you are moving in the natural environment where there are no safety measures.
