1.Write a letter , this could be a letter to the person or persons causing you the stress ,or a letter to yourself discussing the problems making you stressed. Write down all your feelings ,even if they are terrible hateful things you would never want anyone to see. After you have written down all the things that are making you stressed tear it up or erase it if done on the computer and throw it away. Now doesn't it feel better getting all the things causing you stress out ? Sometimes we can't express the way we are feeling or maybe we don't want to bother others with are stressful problems, this is a way to do that. Remember to throw the letter away if you do not want anyone to read it. You can write a letter every night before bed to get rid of the stress from the day. This will allow you to have a good nights sleep.
2.Listen to music, pick out some music that fits your mood. If you are angry and stressed about something put on some loud rock songs . Music can do wonders at relieving stress. Maybe you need to listen to some slow calming songs to help you relax, or put on some fast beat tracks and get up and dance. You will get some exercise and release endorphins into your system that will ease the stress you were feeling. Any time I am stressed I turn on the radio and play some of my favorite songs ,I have list for every mood I might be in at the time. This really seems to help. Sing at the top of your lungs to some of your favorite songs and see how fast the stress is gone.
3.Go for a walk, remove yourself from the stress. Take a nice long, slow walk and just allow your mind to clear. Look at the scenery and just enjoy the peace and quiet for a little while. You could make a daily habit of taking an evening walk to unwind from all the stress of the day. This can be your time to think about all the things that are bothering you ,making you feel stressed out. The fresh air will help make you feel more relaxed and stress-free. You could also try jogging to relieve the stress. Either way you will be getting some exercise and relaxing alone time.
4. Talk to a friend, whether it be in person or on-line. Sometimes stress in our lives seems to much for one person to handle. Talk with a friend and explain your problems to them. Maybe they can offer you some advice on how to handle the stressing issue or just lend a listening ear. Often times just saying what is causing you to be stressed helps tremendously. The person you are talking with may have been through some of the same problems you are having and know how stressed out you feel. Meet a friend for dinner or a movie. Maybe plan a day out shopping or just hanging out relaxing. Friends have a way of making the things that caused you so much stress not seem so bad.
5.Cry, Scream, Yell, if this is what will make you feel better . Lock your self in a room and let your emotions out. Get a punching bag and hit it until you just can't hit it again. Take a hot shower and have a good cry if you feel like that's what you need to relieve the stress in your life.
While it may seem like the problems causing you to be so stressed are never going to go away they will. You just have to relax and figure out what you can do to fix them. If a person is causing you to have a lot of stress in your life consider ending that relationship and moving on to one less stressful. Sometimes there will be stress we can't control such as family or work issues, we have to find a way to deal with the stress instead of letting it build up and finally boil over. Allowing stress to control your life is not good for your emotional or physical health. Make some changes today ,before the stress causes you even more problems. Sometimes people will turn to alcohol and drugs to try and ease the stress they are feeling. This will not help and can make things a lot worse. Learn to cope with stress in safe, effective ways.

Thinks for the tips. I especially like the one about using music. Music does help me. And yes stress does contribute to my migraines, some. Migraines are reason enough for me to learn to deal with stress better.

Go for a walk is one of my favorites. Whenever I get too stressed, I go for a walk.
Good advice. Music is one of my greatest stress busters. I live in the boonies and the cows can't call the cops when I crank up the music. A good cry in the shower works when other options are limited, especially if you're doing hospital time with a loved one. Writing letters and shredding them works really well until the shredder chokes.
Listening to music and working out are definitely the two that work best for me. And right now as I'm finishing up my undergraduate degree and trying to get situated for graduate school - let me tell you I'm enduring plenty of stress! Good article!
Good tips; I'm glad you pointed out that drugs and alcohol don't solve stress. Knowing I can lay all my burdens at the feet of Jesus Christ since I have a relationship with Him is the best for me! Reading God's love letter and instruction manual for life (the Bible), listening to upbeat songs with uplifting lyrics, and talking with my Heavenly Father through prayer are ways I let go of things and let God handle the stressors in my life.
These are really great ideas.
