Not only is your home your single greatest asset, but is almost always needs something done to it. Curing the Winter Blues is a snap if you spend time rearranging furniture, cleaning out closets and drawers, or performing those in depth cleaning procedures that require large chunks of time. So put on a pot of coffee and get to work. Odds are the weather is helping to keep you indoors anyway, you may as well use the time constructively. Nothing can eat up a weekend quicker than repainting the kitchen and cleaning out the cabinets.
If performing cleaning tasks is not up your alley, settle down with a favorite hobby. Start reading a book, dust off that video game console, or even get that stamp collection ready for presentation. Even pick up a new hobby if the current ones seem played out. Spending a few hours each night or day working on your favorite hobby or performing a favored task can give you something to look forward to instead of dreading another cold night in the house. Even surfing the Internet for a new blog to read or starting one can eat up hours of time.
Perhaps one of the best ways to cure the Winter Blues is to spend time with family and friends. Reconnecting with everyone after a stressful and difficult year can be both a rewarding and pleasant experience. Spending time talking or having a dinner party is a great way to pass the time, and even gives you a chance to show off a little. Not only can you showcase your cooking skills, but this is also a great time to show off that house or even that stamp collection!
Planning your warm weather vacation is also a great method toward curing the Winter Blahs. Break out that calendar and figure out when and where your next adventure will take place. Make lists of items you need to acquire and clothes you need to shop for. Even use the vast resources of the Internet to start the whole process. It is never too early to start preparing for a good time.
Curing the Winter Blues or the Winter Blahs can be difficult, but finding a way out is the key to a happy and healthy lifestyle. Everyone has different areas of expertise and different areas of interest, finding what works for you is essential to curing the Winter Blues. Everyone has something they enjoy, sometimes we need to be reminded of that fact.
