Increasing profitability and reducing costs are more or less essential in creating a sound and profitable business, but how do you go about cutting and reducing costs I hear you say. WELL here are a few ideas and suggestions to get you started.

1. How about comparing your providers, by this I mean do some shopping, shop around for the best deals, be it with your internet provider or with your accounts/bookkeeping. Negotiate with existing suppliers or switch providers to get better deals, reduce costs and get more for your money.

2. Review your business and its spending, see where you are being extravagant and see where you can cut costs, for example eliminate any unnecessary events, parties and expenses.

3. Look at your staff and your employees, for example if you have full time staff, do you think you would be better off with part time staff who may well just be more productive, efficient effective and cost efficient.

4. Reduce your overheads, look at where you are spending any unnecessary funds or monies that you don't need to be.

5. Pay early, by this I mean pay your bills on time, pay invoices and so on, don't let things get behind when it comes to your business finances as this is when you will start to pay extra in terms of charges etc.

6. Look at downsizing. To save and cut down would it be possible to relocate your business and perhaps move to smaller maybe more affordable premises. Remember that small savings now could reap huge rewards in the future.

7. Focus on your existing customers. It costs a lot more to find and secure new customers, so instead of actively seeking new customers put your energy and resources into existing customers. Sticking with existing customers will help reduce your costs, as sourcing new ones can get very expensive.

8. Look at working from home. If you have an office based business is there a possibility that this could be moved to your home/property to help reduce and cut costs, from travelling costs to office costs.

TOP TIP: Review your business as often as you can. By reviewing, monitoring and evaluating your business and its performance you can and will soon be able to see where you can make even further cuts and cutbacks.

I hope you have found this article both helpful and useful. Good luck with cutting your business costs and reducing your overheads, I wish you every success.
