Ways to Deal with Global Warming

Carbon Dioxide (CO2) can remain the atmosphere for more than a century. So that means that the carbon dioxide produced today through our motor vehicles and other sources will be around in the the 22nd century. So what can we do to help lessen or stop the excessive amount of greenhouse gases we produce? Here are two ways we can deal with Global Warming.

Mitigation. It is basically a postponment of Global Warming by doing things that will be able to buy us time to understand Global Warming and maybe even produce a permanent solution like developing an alternative to fossil fuels. There are many hybrid cars these days but they still use fossil fuels and our supply is dwindling as well. Planting and maintaining our forests is another way to mitigate Global Warming. We all learned from first grade that trees and other green plants remove carbon dioxide from the air through photosynthesis. It may not remove all of it but it will remove some of it and like I mentioned before, every little bit helps. Plus planting is basically giving back what we've taken from our planet, which is the right thing to do.

Adaptation. It is basicaly responding to the changes caused by Global Warming. Many people that Global Warming is inevitable so scientists and the government as well are developing ways for society to be able to adapt to the warming climate. One major cause of Global Warming is the rising sea level. Many people who are living by the coast could be moved towads inland. There are also different types of evaluation of the effects of Global Warming that are being made and they are constructing stategies and figuring out solutions to these effects.

So the question is which side are you inclined to? Mitigation or Adaptation?

I myself am inclined to mitigation. Although it is wise to figure out ways to adapt to the effects of Global Warming, I believe that we can figure out a way to lessen the excessive amount of greenhouse gases that we produce. And I believe that we will eventually find an alternative to fossil fuels. There are many ways we can mitigate Global Warming so why not try? We can still figure out ways to adapt to the effects but I think that it is a better idea to figure out ways to stop it. We have to think about our future generations and their needs.
