1. Find your sponsors -
First you need to make a list of possible sponsors. Family members and friends are a great start and once you explain what you will be doing more than likely they will want to help you and keep track of your progress. Other sponsors can include your neighbors, local businesses, grocery stores, gas stations, hospitals, and doctors' offices.
2. Let others in your community know
There are plenty of ways to increase the number of sponsors you can get by letting other members of your community know what you are doing. You would be surprised how many people there are that are willing to help. The 3 Day gives you a website to give others so that they can make donations online, this website is a great opportunity to earn sponsors because people feel more comfortable donating directly to the organization and it still benefits you. Some ways to let your community know are to make fliers, write the local paper, go door to door, host a bake sale, set up a donation booth outside of the mall or grocery store, make business cards with the website and give one to everyone you meet, wear your 3 day walk pins, use the Pizza Hut fund-raising kits, Otis Spunkmire fund-raising kits, put change collectors at local businesses, wear your team shirts, and sell spots on the back of your team shirts.
3. Other fun ways to earn the money
you can do anything from hosting a benefit party, doing a silent auction, having a garage sale and donating the profits, and even have a raffle where the winner gets half of the pot. The key is to be creative and not to give up. Ask every one you meet because the worst they can say is no, because you never really know what someone will say until you ask.
Good Luck and Keep Walking!
