There are many different ways to ease menstrual cramps. It's all about trying and testing different methods and medications to find what works best for you. Most women will suffer from menstrual cramps at some point in their lives, from manageable pain to absolutely horrendous agony. I am someone who has experienced menstrual cramps and the corresponding varying degrees of pain for most of my adult life.

I would recommend that every woman tries to keep herself as calm as possible. Being upset during the weeks preceding your period can often lead to more painful cramps than usual during menstruation. Obviously there are times in everyone's life when upset and worry is inevitable, but where possible it is best to try to stay as calm and positive as possible.

Medication is the obvious method in easing menstrual cramps. Paracetamol is an excellent pain reliever. However, please be aware that you cannot take more than four thousand milligrams of paracetamol in twenty four hours. Excessive consumption of paracetamol can lead to liver damage, so it is best to not to take the stated dosage.

A good old-fashioned hot water bottle can ease menstrual cramps. The heat from the hot water bottle helps to ease the tension and pain of the abdominal cramps.

Often the only thing that can help menstrual cramps is to take yourself off to bed and try to sleep. Hopefully when you wake up the pain will have eased a little.

Many doctors advise that being careful of what foods you eat in can help to ease menstrual cramps. A diet that is high in salt and caffeine can make menstrual cramps much worse. It is best to eat foods that are healthy like fruit and vegetable and plenty of water. Some dietary supplements such as evening primrose oil are often recommended as a means to easing menstrual cramps. Foods which are high in omega three fats and healthy oils are also recommended.

Many women have said that their menstrual cramps have eased significantly once they have had a baby . Obviously this is not a good enough reason to have a baby but it is definitely an upside.

Some women also report that the contraceptive pill helps to ease their menstrual cramps. Perhaps the hormone in the pill helps to balance their own hormones thus lessening the cramps of menstruation. The contraceptive pill also leads to lighter periods which come more regularly.

Trial and error is the only way to find out what is the best method for you to ease your menstrual cramps.
