Home staging is all about making your home look as appealing as possible to those who might want to buy it by creating an atmosphere of warmth and love.

Some people even bake cookies so that potential home buyers will be more influenced to make an offer.

Imagine the contrast between the smell of cookies and the odor of cigarettes that is lingering in your home as you're trying to sell it. Would people want to buy a home that smells like a night club?

To help you in your home staging efforts, then, there are ways to eliminate the odor of cigarettes from your home when it's for sale.

Start with General Cleaning

The ways to eliminate the odor of cigarettes from your home when it's for sale most certainly begin with a deep and general cleaning. This is because the residue of nicotine is so pervasive, especially if you've been smoking in your home for months at a time.

A general cleaning to eliminate the odor of cigarettes takes into consideration all the surfaces of fabrics, kitchen floors, windows, mirrors, and so on.

Even light bulbs are notoriously adept at attracting the odor of cigarettes and might need to be replaced.

As such, vacuuming and cleaning with regular household cleaners is a good start to eliminating the odor of cigarettes from your home when it's for sale.

Eliminate Odors the Natural Way

Of course, there are other and more natural ways to eliminate the odor of cigarettes from your home when it's for sale. These ways don't have to rely on aerosol products which only cover up the odor.

To begin with, using baking soda on carpets and furniture is a good way for you to eliminate the odor of cigarettes. You can't very well throw the living room sofa into the washing machine, but you can sprinkle a generous amount of baking soda on it before vacuuming it again.

Coffee grounds, tied up in a filter and placed on furniture, is another natural way to eliminate the odor of cigarettes from your home when it's for sale.

Lastly, there's something about leaving a bowl of white vinegar out on a table all night that seems to work wonders in eliminating the odor of cigarettes.

In sum, in your efforts to make your home as appealing as possible to potential buyers, you can create an atmosphere of warmth and love by baking cookies.

The last thing you want is the odor of cigarettes to interfere with selling your home.

Fortunately, there are ways to eliminate this odor, both through a general and thorough cleaning and by using natural ways to absorb the odor.

Good to know! When we were young, we moved to a house previously owned by smokers. I remember the smoke stains kept coming back through the paint on the ceiling.

My sister always set out bowls of vinegar and it worked. She sometimes lit candles too. Smoking is not allowed in my house.
