There are ways to make us feel happier. Things to do that can help get us out of a slump or a blue, bah- humbug of a mood. Yes, Christmas would not be Christmas without Scrooge: the movie can be watched and enjoyed, not become a self narrative.

Ways to feel happier during the holidays- bath time

Baths are not just for babies and toddlers anymore. Take a nice long bath in lavender. Studies have shown that not only is lavender calming, but it also reduces feeling of anger. Lavender is not just masking feelings of anger and resentment with a false sense of calm, but it can change our mood. Moreover, baths are relaxing, what can be more happy- inducing than that?

Ways to feel happier during the holidays- visit the sandman

Sleep, enough sleep is conducive to being happy. One more hour a week is enough to brighten eyes and pep up moods. Imagine if you can allow yourself one extra hour of sleep a night-why you will be the one singing all the Christmas carols around the office and smiling at everyone.

You know that Bank of America commercial where people walk by their sign and begin to visualize their dreams? That commercial is successful for a reason- it happens to be true. By thinking positive, by visualizing a happy ending we can enjoy life more. Have you ever known a daydreamer to be sad? Problems and life events will still be there, but for a few moments focus will be spent on a happy ending and the endorphins released can jump start a cheery mood all day.

Ways to feel happier during the holidays- turkey, please.

The day after Thanksgiving can be hectic and full of chaos for many as they brave the stores to get the best sales. Some people on this day, and every other long- line day at a store can oftentimes be rude and blue. This attitude can rub off on others...

However, those that snack on a turkey sandwich for lunch or even dinner are eating a serotonin rich food, which can ward off the blues. Bring along an over your shoulder cooler and share the serotonin with Scrooges.

Ways to feel happier during the holidays- bar none

This time of year can not only be stressful but hectic with time management. Some meals are often skipped to save that precious five minutes here and there. Skipping meals lowers blood sugar levels, causing moods to shift downward. Carry breakfast bars in your purse, in your briefcase, backpack and vehicle. Stash some in your office at work. Notice someone feeling blue, offer them a breakfast bar.
