Firstly, it helps to know just how the anus works. Sounds basic but it is basic and there are some who do not know and are too shy to ask. The anus can be found at the end of the colon and is the passage for waste. The waste passes through the small intestine, through the colon and out of the anus. The muscles that control the opening and closing of the anus are the internal and external sphincter muscles. These muscles have many nerve endings that are the source of pain or pleasure. Something not complicated but is the key to w hat anal sex is all about.
If you feel any pain during anal sex it is because of pressure and friction against the sphincter muscles. To combat this get to know how your sphincter works and use lubrications such as Wet platinum or Eros Silicon.
Know Your Body
For a completely pleasurable anal sexual experience you need to know your own body. Everybody is different in the way that their sphincter muscles react to penetration. Spend time exploring how your sphincter muscles work and their sensitivity. Find how they react when you are tense and when you are in a relaxed state.
Start with some deep breathing for relaxation and then start exploring by using a small sex toy. When you feel comfortable increase the size of the sex toy. In fact this is something that you and your partner can be involved in before penetration. Keep the lines of communication open so that you can say what pleases you, what your limits are and if you are experiencing pain. Should you experience pain, don't worry...practice makes perfect.
The better you and your partners know your bodies the better the anal sex will be.
Good Hygiene
Good hygiene is of utmost importance if you are to practice anal sex. Without this the experience will not be so enjoyable and you can put your health at risk.
If you choose to use over the counter internal cleansing products take care. They do contain harsh ingredients that are not really meant for the anus. And don't over wipe as you can cause bleeding.
The best way to clean is by using pre-moistened adult wipes such as Charmin Fresh Mates or Kleenex Cottonelle Flushable Wipes.
Sexually Transmitted Diseases
Cleansing thoroughly will not prevent STD's and the anus is a great breeding place for such diseases. Never have bareback sex (sex without a condom), always think Safe.
