Ways to Use the Glass Tray from a Broken Microwave Oven
How to Repurpose and Reuse the Trays and Roller Wheels
Many kitchen appliances these days are not made to last, especially microwave ovens. My parents purchased my microwave oven approximately seven years ago, and now it is broken. I do not like throwing things away, and I reuse and repurpose parts and pieces of broken items whenever possible. I saved the glass tray from the broken microwave oven since it is in perfect condition, and I plan on using it to create something spectacular. Try my creative ways to reuse and repurpose the glass tray and plastic roller wheels from a broken microwave oven, and create a handy serving platter, a valuable tool for cake decorating and more.
Save the Glass Tray to Use as a Serving Platter
A glass tray from a broken microwave oven would make a fantastic serving platter for everything from cupcakes to slices of roast beef. I do not have a large serving platter, and the glass tray from my broken microwave would work perfectly, especially when having company for holiday get-togethers, parties and more. It will hold approximately one dozen cupcakes, mounds of roast beef or a variety of sliced cheeses.
Use the Glass Tray and Plastic Roller Wheel for Cake Decorating
I enjoy baking and decorating cakes, but I do not have all of the latest and greatest cake decorating tools. The glass tray from my broken microwave oven would make a fantastic cake decorating platter, especially since it would easily turn with the plastic roller wheels underneath. Best of all, a round layer cake can be served on the same plate. Colored coconut, bits of candy or even edible flower blooms can be placed around it.
Make Glass Plate Flowers
One of the most unique and creative ways that I have found to repurpose and reuse glass plates is glass flower crafts. As the picture shows, the glass plate from a broken microwave oven can be used to create the base for floral yard decor. The article entitled How to Make Glass Plate Flowers provides easy step-by-step instructions. No one will guess that the tray from a broken microwave was used to design a beautiful contemporary bloom.
Make a Beautiful Candle Tray
Candle trays can be quite expensive, especially larger varieties that are capable of holding several candles. I plan on using the glass tray from my broken microwave oven to make a beautiful candle tray that will hold several pillar candles. I will surround the candles with small polished pebbles to hide the platter beneath. It will look absolutely beautiful on top of the stereo stand in my living room, especially when the candles are lit.
