Ways to Grow Hair Fast

Jessica Mousseau
You probably want to grow hair fast if your hair is thinning as a result of the body's natural aging process or because of a serious illness or trauma. In some cases, you may have completely lost your hair or most of it because of treatment, such as chemotherapy. Even though the hair on your head that you brush, comb, and style is actually considered the shaft that extends from the hair follicle, and contains no true living cells, the follicle is alive. And, just like anything on your body, the healthier that follicle is, the better your chances that you will grow hair fast. Therefore it is possible to do things to help improve the follicle's health and thus grow hair fast. These include eating properly, making sure your scalp is healthy, and taking advantage of products that are available over-the-counter can actually regrow hair or at least prevent you from losing the hair you have left. Eating right improves your overall body health. However, if you want to include specific foods in your diet that can help you grow hair fast, you can include those high in protein, such as fish, organ meats (liver, for example) and dairy products, as well as others and iron (found in whole grain cereals, dark green leafy vegetables and some fruits) first, as both of these nutrients play a major role in both hair production and growth. From there, you can choose foods high in B and E vitamins, such as eggs and poultry, nuts and some types of fruits, and those which contain essential fatty acids. All of these will not only help you grow hair fast, but will also ensure that you enjoy good health as a whole.

Poor nutrition is not the only thing that can contribute to thinning hair or hair loss. Harsh chemicals, such as those used in permanent and coloring treatments, as well as those found in some hair products, can cause hair loss. If you notice your hair loss increasing as a result of using harsh products, stop using them. You may find that you will grow hair fast again. Even if you are eating properly, you may still need a little help. This is where over-the-counter products that contain minoxidil. Products containing this ingredient are marketed under different brand names including Rogaine®. Some even have formulas designed specifically for men's and women's hair growth. For men, there is a prescription drug called Propecia®. This medication actually decreases the production of DHT, which is one of the main reasons for hair loss. However, this drug is only intended for use by men who want to grow hair fast; its ingredients are very harmful to women and children. Women who are of child-bearing age, and are pregnant or considering becoming pregnant, cannot take this drug and should not even handle the pills. Severe abnormalities, especially affecting a male child's sexual organs, can occur as a result to exposure to the ingredients in Propecia®.
