The first step to making the season easier is to plan ahead and prioritize. Make your lists early to avoid last minute juggling of errands. You can plan ahead on most things including holiday gifts, decorations, outfits and meals. Wrap any gifts you purchase as soon as you buy them, this way avoiding staying up all night trying to finish all the wrapping.
Spend time with your family. With so many activities to do during the holiday we may forget to spend time with the most important people in our lives. Try planning fun and healthy activities that you can do together, such as walks, mini trips, crafts, etc.
So many tempting foods are displayed during this season. Don't withhold but don't over indulge. Skip the second tempting helpings, and watch your alcohol intake. Try to eat healthy foods and snacks. Substitute the traditional fatty foods with better healthier alternatives. If you are attending a party, try to snack before you go, so to avoid overeating when you get there.
Don't forget to exercise. Make it a family tradition. Go for brisk walks around the neighborhood, or start a traditional football or basketball game. Even if it's only 10 minutes a day, it makes a difference
Nobody wants to be ill for the holidays, so make sure you drink plenty of fluids, take your vitamins and wash your hands frequently. Dress warmly and in layers.
Finally, get plenty of rest. Don't stay up all hours to try to get things done. Take some time for yourself.
