Ways to Help Boost the Confidence of Kindergarten Students

V.I.P. Week Ideas

Crystal Ray
It's never too early to begin trying to boost the confidence of students, and kindergarten is the ideal time to start. Kids who feel good about themselves feel more secure in new experiences, and choosing a V.I.P (very important person) each week is a great way for kindergarten teachers to help boost the confidence and self-esteem of kindergarten students. It's a fun way to make students feel special and prove that everyone is truly unique, and being designated as the V.I.P. for the week is an easy way to boost the confidence of students because it makes them feel very special while allowing them to show classmates what they're interested in.

Begin with a Poster

Send home a note with kindergarten students indicating when they will be the V.I.P. for the week, and provide information on ways parents can help their kindergarten students make a very special poster. Suggest they include pictures of family, baby photos, vacations, pets, favorite activities, holidays, or any other pictures that help other students learn more about the V.I.P. of the week.

In addition, suggest the kindergarten kids cut out pictures from magazines to glue on their V.I.P. poster. The pictures should show what the students like to do in their spare time, their favorite foods, colors, television shows, games, and anything else to help display their uniqueness. Parents and kindergarten kids will enjoy working on this very special project, and it's a definite way to help boost the confidence of students.

V.I.P. Show and Tell

Show and tell is always fun for kindergarten students, and the V.I.P. for the week should choose an item of their choice to show the class. The item can be a favorite toy, a stuffed animal, a book, or anything else they want to share with classmates. Allowing a child to bring an item of their choice for a special V.I.P. show and tell will help boost their confidence by allowing them to speak about something they love.

Snack Time

The V.I.P. of the week can also be allowed to bring in a snack to share with classmates if permitted. This is a wonderful way to help boost the confidence of kindergarten students by allowing them to gifts of goodies to classmates. This should be kept optional since everyone doesn't have the necessary funds to purchase snacks for a number of students.

Include Parents

Kindergarten kids love to include parents in classroom activities, and what better time than during V.I.P. week? Offer the option of having the parent or the parents of the kindergarten V.I.P. come to school to read a story, share age-appropriate information about their profession, or information about a hobby or a special talent. This is also a fantastic way to help boost the confidence of kindergarten students, and it greatly adds to the excitement and anticipation of V.I.P. week.
