Fine Lines
Fine lines seem to be more prevalent in those with light complexions because it carries less melanin, a pigment that assists in preventing damage from UV rays. People with dark skin seem to have less of a problem in this regard since they have more of this substance. UV radiation is also very damaging to collagen, it actually dissolves it, and this is the core of what keeps your skin from wrinkling.
The Fine Line Solution
Be sure to apply sunscreen that's has a broad-spectrum and can be used year round. Dr. Marmur emphasizes that fact that it should be worn daily and used in combination with a moisturizer that has SPF as well. In addition, she also recommends giving your skin a collagen boost by applying a retinol treatment before going to bed. Don't forget to exfoliate with glycolic acid to keep skin cells new and fresh as well.
Sensitive Skin
Olive toned people have the advantage of being less prone to wrinkles, however, what it is prone to is more of a tendency to become irritated. Olive skin has more active pigment cells and as a result reacts easily to inflammation which in turn will cause skin staining resulting from the irritation.
The Sensitive Skin Solution
Only use skin care products that are gentle on cleansing as well as a moisturizer that's mild. Sunscreens with zinc oxide are the way to go because they aren't as likely to create irritation to your complexion. If you've experienced reactions in the past that have produced some blotchiness, try to remedy that issue with a daily skin treatment that contains soy.
Dark Spots
Those with darker complexions are more likely to have a problem with markings and spots that result from blemishes and pimples easily. I personally have this problem and can confirm this. I dread seeing these skin afflictions because I know what's coming next. However, there is help.
The Dark Spot Solutions
Kojic acid fading treatments can be used daily to diminish skin flaws and marks brought on by acne and blemishes. A broad-spectrum sunscreen is also helpful for prevention of this problem for future difficulties with dark spots from UV damage.
Improve your skin with some of these professionally suggested tips and enjoy a healthy and glowing complexion.
