Ways to Make Your Own Baby Gifts Basket to Bring to a Baby Shower

A baby gifts basket is a great present to give to expectant parents. It is the perfect shower gift and even better than a store bought basket because you have personalized it with your own touch.

Not only is it easy to make but can be fun as well. Here are some ideas of how to make your own baby gifts baskets at home.

Purchase a Large Basket

Luckily there are many choices when it comes to choosing a basket to hold baby gifts. You can use a baby bathtub as the holding vessel so the parents can use the tub for the baby as well. Or you can get a nice large wicker basket and line it with material that matches the nursery décor that mom can use as a laundry basket. Or you can simply use a wicker basket dressed up with bows. Any of the above when filled will look great.

Decide on a Theme

Luckily there are many options if you decide to go with a theme.

Baby Nursery Theme:

You can do a theme around the decorations of the nursery. If for example, the room will be themed around Winnie The Pooh, there are ton of things you can buy that are Pooh related. Such as: Pooh nightlights, baby bottles, pacifiers, books, outfits with Pooh on it, rattles, lamp, blankets, etc. If the room has any such theme as Princesses, Noah's Ark, etc. you can be creative and find items to match.

Bedtime Theme:

This kind of basket could include items such as: Nightlight, feety pajamas, blanket, soothing sounds player, nursery books, baby bottles, sleep positioner (to keep baby on their back) and a bottle warmer.

Bathtub Theme

This is another great idea to give mom and dad all they need for bath time. Fill a baby bathtub with everything baby needs like colored washcloths, hooded baby towels, shampoo, lotions, bubble bath, rubber duckies and other toys that babies can play with in the tub as they get a little older.

Assemble the Basket

Once you have decided on a theme and have shopped for all your items, get creative in situating them in the basket. Place the bigger or more expensive items in the middle and the smaller items around. If you need to make the center item higher, place a box of tissues or baby wipes in the middle of the basket, place the item on top and then try to place the smaller items around the sides of the basket so it looks great from all angles.

Pretty It Up

Once you have a basic idea of how to you are going to place the items, start prettying them up by placing multiple bows and ribbons in baby colors such as blue, pink, green and yellow. Tie them around various items in the basket (especially the items on the outside that are showing) to make the basket look extremely festive.

Wrap It In Plastic

While this step is not absolutely necessary, it does make the basket look more professional and finished. Plus it helps keep all the items in place while you are transporting it back and forth. You can find the clear cellophane wrap that you will need in most party stores in the gift wrapping session. Be sure to add a big bow to the top where the cellophane will all meet together in a big bunch.
