Ways to Promote Your Articles, and Getting Paid to Do It

g christine
Promoting articles is boring. Some people like all that social networking, but I could take it or leave it. And that usually means leave it.

Perhaps I'm missing the boat on a lot of extra money that promotion might bring in, but I'll suffer the consequences of less money, in exchange for less hassle. I love money, but boring myself to death trying to get good backlinks to my articles simply isn't worth it.

My time is precious, and I'd rather spend it living, and painting my toenails, and trying to outwit Cleverbot. Luckily, I've found a few ways to promote my articles and make money at the same time, so I can feel good about doing it, even though it's often just pennies.

One way to promote articles and get paid for it is to post links to each one on Xomba. You write a short 50 word blurb about your article, add your link to it. You get paid through Adsense. You have to have your own Adsense account set up, and Xomba will split the revenue with you whenever an ad is clicked on your page (part of the time Xomba's Adsense code is on, and part of the time yours is). This way, you have a backlink, which people can click on and get to your article, plus you can make money off the Adsense on Xomba it's self

Two ways to make money are better than one.

Another way to make money in a similar way is through Redgage. Same sort of deal: you write a short description of your article, a title, some tags, and put up your link. On Redgage, you can make money through contests, and through activity on the site. I'm not sure exactly what their formula is for how much money you make for what type of activity on the site, but I do know that the more links you put up, and the more activity on your profile, the more money you make.

You can also make money promoting your articles through blogging. Set up several different blogs on different topics that you consistently write about, and then post links to your articles where it's relevant. You shouldn't spam your own blog though, just post links on blogs you write at regularly, and offer up a new article link when it's appropriate. There are many ways to monetize a blog, but the basic way is to put up Adsense or other ads.

I've never heard of Xomba. I'll check it out.

Social networking is tricky. Too often it is just about that, social networking, and everyone is promoting themselves but no one is reading anything that anyone else writes. That is okay with me. But it is best left on auto-pilot. It can also be a crutch. I have also used Yahoo Buzz! and Topix, and that works well for me.
