First, that robe can be used for an alien costume. Just add an alien mask and you're done.
The robe can also be used to dress as the Grim Reaper. You can find a skeleton mask, or paint your face white, with dark circles around the eyes. A plastic sickle would be a good touch too.
You can also use that robe to be the killer from the Scream movies. Not the most original Halloween costume, but it's easy to throw around at the last minute. The masks are usually not hard to find.
Don't forget a Halloween classic - a witch. Add a broom, pointed hat, and some green face paint and you're all set.
The robe itself can be used for a ghostly monk costume. Painting your face with white Halloween makeup will add to the ghostly effect. Tying a rope around your waist adds to the look. Similarly, the robe can be modified to be a nun costume. The hood, along with some starched white felt, can be the habit.
If the above ideas aren't appealing, then it's time to get creative. If you're a theatrical person, consider being a choir singer for Halloween. Spice up the bland idea by being a bit of a diva. Maybe even a dead one.
One could also wear a black robe, and carry a double headed axe (fake, of course). You'll be a robed executioner in no time.
The robe can also be modified into a devil costume for Halloween. Cut out some flames from red fabric, and place around the neck and bottom (or wherever else you think they would look best). Then carry a plastic pitchfork and you're ready to go.
In a similar fashion, you could use colored or patterned fabric to add a yolk or other contrasting element to the robe. Walk around with an interesting cane or staff and you're a sorcerer.
Lastly, try wearing the robe along with some glasses. Carry a wand and draw a lightning bolt on your forehead. Now you have a makeshift Harry Potter Halloween costume. A few decorations on the robe couldn't hurt.
Hopefully you now have some ideas for those black nylon robes. They are definitely worth keeping - they can be used for many Halloween costumes, not just one. If you have ideas for what to do with those black robes, please share!
