Ways to Get Rid of Stains on Ugg Boots

At more than $100 per pair, Ugg boots are far from cheap. After shelling out that kind of dough, the last thing you want to have to do is buy another pair because of an unsightly stain. Fortunately, you aren't the first to get a stain on the coveted Aussie boots. As other owners have learned, there are ways to get rid of stains on your Ugg boots.

Ways to Get Rid of Stains

If you disregarded the Ugg guidelines and wore your boots in water, or you dropped liquid on your boot, you may have stains along your boots. One way to get rid of the stain is to attack it with cold water. Moisten the entire boot with cold water to avoid having additional water marks or lines. If you have a cleaning product that will work on sheepskin or leather, be sure to dilute it first. Then apply to the Ugg boot using a sponge. Rinse, using a clean sponge soaked in cold water. If you don't have cleaner, gently scrub the boot with cold water to avoid damaging the sheepskin. Then allow your boot to dry inside, away from excessive heat or the sun. One way to ensure that your boot maintains its shape is to stuff it with newspaper, rags or paper towels while it dries.

Once dry, use a soft suede brush or soft tooth brush and gently brush your Ugg boot, going in one direction only.

Putting your boots in a washing machine may significantly dry them out. However, placing them in the spin cycle for a few minutes is one way to get rid of any excess water. If they lose their shape, stuff them with newspaper. If your Ugg boots shrink, don't worry, they should stretch back out once you've worn them for awhile.

Another way to eliminate stains is to gently rub your boots together so that the skin rubs.

Get Rid of Odor

One way to get rid of odor in your Ugg boots is to place baking powder inside your boots. Make sure they are dry before doing so as you don't want clumps in your boots. Another way is to add a small amount of a deodorizer. If that doesn't work, consider buying new Ugg insoles.

To minimize stains, treat your boots with water and stain repellant.
