Ways to Use Salt for Flower Arrangements

Unique Salt Techniques!

Most of us sprinkle salt on our food to make it taste better and also use it to cook with, but there are other helpful uses for salt. You can use salt for cleaning your flower arrangements and also to make them look better in their display. Here are some simple and easy ways to use salt for flower arrangements.

Ways to use salt for flower arrangements: Help clean flower residue

You can easily get rid of the nasty reminder of what flowers leave behind in vases, the residue. Minerals and deposits are left behind on the interior of vases and sometimes may be difficult to remove. This is where salt can be helpful; simply rub some salt on the offending ring deposits inside the vase.

A lot of times you won't be able to fit your hand inside the vase. If this is the case, mix a strong solution of salt and warm water and shake the solution around inside the vase. You can also gently brush the inside with a bottle brush to remove the deposits, and then wash the vase as usual. Now the vase will be as clean as when you first brought it home.

Ways to use salt for flower arrangements: Artificial flower cleaner

If you have an artificial flower arrangement that is in desperate need of cleaning, you can use salt to get the job done quickly and easily. It doesn't matter if the flowers are the silk variety or the more common nylon variety, you can use this trick without damaging the flowers.

Place the flowers in a paper bag and add about one fourth cup of salt. Gently shake the bag with the salt inside and the flowers will emerge clean and as pretty as ever.

Ways to use salt for flower arrangements: Beautifully displayed arrangement

To help keep your artificial flowers standing in their proper place, use salt for displaying them. Simply fill your favorite vase or another type of container with salt. Then you will add just a little bit of cold water and your arrangement is ready for you to arrange in any way you choose. The salt will solidify and the flowers will stay in their proper place.

Next time you need to clean out a vase full of mineral deposits or need to arrange your artificial flowers in a beautiful display, use salt to get the job done easily and quickly.

Wonderful tips! I keep salt around for recipes like baking, but don't use it often. Sounds like a good way to use the old stuff without wasting it!
