An engagement ring is the perfect accompaniment to a fine dinner, the violin music, and all the other gestures of romance which you've planned in advance to impress the one you love. An engagement ring makes a marriage proposal complete and traditional.
An engagement ring can also be expensive, and you will want to do research before simply wandering into a jewelry store. With the right kind of knowledge, you can save money on an engagement ring and still buy the type of ring that will be appreciated.
Jewelry Outlets
Because engagement rings come in so many different styles, designs, and metals, the desire to find the best one within a suitable budget can be overwhelming.
Fortunately, jewelry outlet stores are available in shopping malls and similar locations. You can save money on an engagement ring because these stores are places where companies sell the product at a discounted rate.
When trying to save money on an engagement ring at a jewelry outlet, however, you should be aware that this type of store might not have a return policy in case you change your mind.
If the local jewelry store in your town is new, it might also offer discounts on engagement rings.
Online Auction and Shopping
Another way to save money on an engagement ring is to try and find deals through online auction and shopping sites.
An example of such a site is The Jewelry Outlet (www.jewelryoutletonline.net).
A word of caution is needed here. When shopping online for discounted engagement rings, you want a jeweler that has a physical address. You can browse for the engagement ring online, and then buy it at its associated retail outlet.
Pawnshops
It might not seem like the most romantic idea, but you can also save money on an engagement ring by purchasing it second hand at a pawn shop. A wide selection is sometimes available depending on the store.
After purchasing an engagement ring at a pawn shop, you should take the precaution of having it appraised by a licensed jeweler.
In sum, an engagement ring is the perfect companion to a proposal of marriage. Engagement rings are also expensive, and you can find different ways to save money when buying one.
Just remember to take certain precautions when buying jewelry online and be willing to have the ring appraised by a reputable jeweler.

Excellent information in this article. Thanks!
I believe that the size, like Michelle said, is not the thing of value. It is the person giving it. Outstanding.
Great ideas
a family heirloom ring (hand-me-down)_ might be nice.
That pawn shop ring will need to be cleared big time as there will probably be bad vibes from a divorce or sadness from a death with this stone. Nice ideas.
Mary had the same thought as Donna! She would definitely "clear" the energy associated with a pawn shop ring! I bought Mary a diamond pendant necklace instead of an engegement ring, because we found some ornate gold wedding rings that wouln't work with an engagement ring. Yes, I was "unromantic" and went with Mary to pick out our rings after she accepted my proposal. I always thought it was totally stupid to hide an engagement ring in your girlfriend's food! I also considered the jewelry a joint decision. Since Mary and I have 36 years of marriage, I must have done something right!
Interesting. I think a pawn shop ring comes with bad karma. LOL
The older I get the more I appreciate that it is not the source or the size of the gift - but the heart of the giver :) cheers
