Ways to Save Money on Girl's Night Out

Danie Lind
Girls Night Out is a welcome reprieve for mommies, working women, housewives and single ladies alike. It brings an opportunity for some relaxation, conversation and laughter that is separated from the regular grind of daily life.

Many Girls Night Out's can quickly break the bank, though, which can lead to further stress or elimination for some women that could most use the break, but this is not a necessary evil that accompanies a good time. Here are some ideas for a fun and calming Girl's Night Out that will still leave you with some money in your purse.

Have a mini-pedicure and mini-manicure night. This is a simple way to feel like a princess. Many beauty colleges are open later then your standard spas and can accommodate several women at once. They also have the benefit of offering fees that are half or even less then what your typical parlor would. You can call ahead to most beauty colleges and set up a night for the girls. Many will even allow music and some even wine or food to be brought in.

Read a book and then watch the movie. This is a great idea for a Girl's Night Out that is in! Give everyone a month in advance so that all members have the chance to read the novel. Gather at a group member's house and curl up to watch the movie. For an even more fun twist, have a theme involved. Girls can dress up in the period of clothing that is associated with the book or as their favorite character. Also, you can have a pot luck of snacks that relate back to the theme of the book. Try to choose books that either have a good girlie plot or that have a recent movie adaptation and prepare the tissues if it is a tear jerker.

Gather at a paint your own pottery location. These establishments are prime territory for Girl's Night Outs and some even have special packages to offer groups of ladies. They can run budget friendly to expensive depending on piece that you decide to paint. So if you are watching your pennies, be sure to pick something on the lower end of the price scale. These types of gatherings also have a special feature; you get to have a memento of your special night out.

Host a white elephant give away. White elephants are great to break the ice if there are new members joining the group. You can gather for snacks at a member's house or a community center. Be sure to look for locations at local libraries as well. Many have meeting rooms available for little to no cost for patrons. Everyone brings two or three wrapped gifts to exchange. These can be anything from silly items you want to regift to small little tokens of your appreciation for the friendship you share. None should be more then a few dollars in value. Everyone draws a spot in order and collects a present. Each gift is opened and all share in the joy. Then, a game of "Rob Your Neighbor" can occur or each member can simple take their treasures home.

Have a cast off your clothing party. No, this is not as dirty as it may sound! Maybe you hate the color green, but Debbie may look amazing in it. Do you have a purse that you like but could never use? Well, a cast off your clothing Girl's Night Out might just be in order. Here, everyone gathers at one member's house or a common location bringing items they do not use or wish to part ways with. You can exchange each item for one new item that was brought by another girl. No matter what, you end up with a few pieces that freshen your wardrobe, and probably a few laughs as well.

Girl's Night Out does not have to be about the expense, but rather should be a way for women to gather and enjoy one another's company. These methods may just be the starting point for many wonderful nights to come.
