Ways to Stop a Little Girl's Hair from Tangling

Put an End to Painful Snarls and Breakage

Children often have much finer hair than adults. When a little girl's hair is long, it ends up tangling beyond repair. The snarls can be nearly impossible to work out, even with a wide tooth comb. Small snarls break off when combed. Larger tangles have to be cut away, and the results are devastating.

My daughter has very fine hair and a sensitive scalp, and she does not want help with combing and brushing. She wants to do it herself to avoid painful pulling. Tangling was a continual problem since she was not capable of caring for it on her own. By the time she asked for assistance it literally broke off when combed. I found ways to stop my little girl's hair from tangling, and as a result she can properly care for it without assistance.

Choose a Layered Style

My little girl's hair was long, and I knew that it had to be trimmed to get rid of existing tangles and obvious damage. We chose a cute layered style. Even though it was still long, tangling would no longer be a problem. The snarls and damage were gone, and it looked fantastic.

Buy or Make a Solution to Prevent Tangling

Tangling could still be an issue if my little girl's hair was not properly combed or brushed at least twice a day. She did a great job of taking care of it without help, but it was still prone to tangling. My mother purchased a product to prevent tangling, and it worked very well. After it was gone I considered buying a similar product for my little girl's hair, but I realized that I could make my own.

I combined one ounce of high quality conditioner with about eight ounces of water. I poured the two ingredients into a clean spray bottle, and I applied it to my little girl's freshly washed towel-dried hair while avoiding the roots and scalp. I did not rinse it out, and I combed her hair as usual. She uses it daily, and tangling has not been a problem again.
