Ways to Time Shopping for the Best Deals

Shopping for the Best Deals with Good Timing

Lyn Vaccaro

Ways to time shopping for the best deals vary far and wide. As a mom of eight with plenty of reason to look for the deals in all shapes and sizes, I've sought out some of the best times to snag the best deals and here's a few of the ways I effectively find great deal prices to get the most from your money.

Gasoline

I've found Wednesday to be the one day of the week that inexpensive gas prices are abundant. As you move forward in the week toward the weekend, gas prices resume their increase and stay that way until the following mid-week mark.

I've found that it's easy to time my gas stop on Wednesdays just by filling the gas tank that day as a regular routine. If I find that I needed to travel more, and used more gas, I put a minimal amount in the tank, just to get me to the following Wednesday when I can take advantage of that Wednesday gas price again.

Groceries

The best way to snag the deals on grocery prices is to wait to shop when the circulars have come out in the paper. The problem is, if you want to maintain being able to buy the popular things that you most always use, you'll have to go as early as possible to be able to get one of the popular items. If you still run into getting shut out on those items, be sure to ask for a rain check.

Clothes

Another hot item for your Wednesday shopping excursions include clothes. The web has and abundance of deals on Wednesdays that are usually marked down to a 40% discount from what I've experienced. I seem to find that the stores follow suit with this as well. In my community, I notice the clothes stores at the mall take advantage of mid-week shoppers by enticing them with great sale prices as well.

Airline Tickets

Running a parallel with gas prices during mid-week are airline tickets. They also take a bit of a dive to celebrate hump day. If you're planning an upcoming trip, stay aware of the prices ahead of time so you'll purchase to your best advantage.
