Ways to Update Your Summer Wardrobe

Do you want a new, but affordable summer look? There are many ways to update your summer wardrobe without spending a lot of money. In most cases, you can wear pieces from last year. All you need is a few accessories, and perhaps a few neutral pieces, and you can mix and match your clothes for a new look every day.

- Take an inventory of your summer clothes. Go through storage boxes, the closet, and dresser drawers. Place all summer pieces on your bed and group similar items together. In other words, place summer tops in one pile, short in a different pile, and so forth.

- Pinpoint your neutral clothes. Neutral clothes are simply items that match any color. These include khaki's, and black and white articles of clothes. Consider neutral colors your best friend because you can mix and match them with a variety of colors, which expands your wardrobe and allows for versatility.

- Determine the number of shorts, capris, T-shirts, and so forth. Having a nice summer wardrobe doesn't entail having a lot of clothes. All you need is a few simple pieces that match a variety of different other pieces, and you'll have a sizeable summer collection. Ideally, it's good to have a pair of shorts in all four of the neutral colors. These include a pair of jean shorts, khaki shorts, white shorts, and black shorts. If you like, get four pairs of capris and summer skirts in neutral colors.

- How many T-shirts and tanks do you have? T-shirts and tank tops are very inexpensive. Several retail stores such as Wal-mart and Target sell simple tank tops and tees for under $6. This is perfect because you can buy tees in every color without spending a lot of money.

- If you plan on going to a nice restaurant or enjoying an evening out, make sure you have a few dressy pieces. Capris and a nice blouse are perfect. However, you might want to include a few colorful or floral sundresses.

- Summer wardrobes are not complete without shoes. Shoes can be very costly. If you're looking to achieve a nice collection of shoes, take the economical approach and shop at discount shoe outlets. All you need are a couple of flips, a pair of tennis shoes, and maybe a pair of dressy wedge or stiletto sandals. Keep an open eye for sales on shoes, or browse online retailers to find great deals.
