Tips for Whiter Teeth, Even After Braces!

Braces are a necessity for a lot of people young and otherwise, but sometimes for many that have had braces, unsightly stains are left behind. You may not know that there are ways to whiten teeth after braces that aren't too difficult or expensive to use. Here's a few to get started with. You may find that, if one of these methods doesn't work, another may.

Hydrogen Peroxide Rinse

Combining a mixture of 75-25 water to hydrogen peroxide and swishing with that after brushing twice daily over a couple of weeks time is one way to whiten teeth after braces. This combination is popular even for those with stains that haven't had braces on. It can be caustic according to some dentists, including my own, so it's important not to over do it.

Whitening Strips

Over-the-counter whitening strips are also an effective way to whiten teeth. I've heard a lot of positive comments with regard to this method. Probably because of the way that it is used. Leaving the strips on for a lengthier period of time is more than likely what gives this method an edge. Give this technique a bit of time to give you some results.

Baking Soda

Using a baking soda topper on your toothbrush after applying your toothpaste as well as following up with the peroxide rinse is what I personally use. I find that implementing all of these options is very effective for someone like me who has a big coffee drinking habit.

Laser Teeth Whitening

This is a very effective method done by a dentist. An application of hydrogen peroxide is first applied to the teeth and left on for a period of time. Then the dentist will administer a laser treatment to the teeth to assist with speeding up the chemical reaction that occurs with the teeth and the peroxide. A couple of these treatments will render good results. A couple of family friends we have were very happy with this method.

It's important after having braces removed to have patience with regard to getting your teeth back to their naturally white look. The braces were there for quite some time, and it will take time to minimize or completely get rid of the staining.
