Frontierland: Country Bear Jamboree, Splash Mountain, Big Thunder Railroad and Tom Sawyer Island. This land has one show, two attractions and another walk through. This land doesn't look like much from paper but in all reality it is a large part of the park. Country Bear Jamboree is a show about bears and their attempt at a entertainment show for humans. The jokes are fun and lame, but the show is interesting to watch. Splash Mountain is appealing to teens and young adults. The big draw is the enormous drop at the end of the ride. The storyline in the ride is comprehensive and fun, and the final drop is really something else.
Big Thunder Railroad is about a run away train in a mining town. And you get to ride this crazy train. There is nothing extreme about this roller coaster. The ride consists of up's and down's and some tight curves. Tom Sawyer Island is a island separate from the land. You can let the kids hang out in this realistic playground in Tom's fort or in the caves. However recently Disney announced the island would become Pirates cove or caves and has changed the Disneyland version into a Pirates of the Caribbean themed island.
I have to say Frontierland has some of my favorite attractions. Splash Mountain is a very popular ride and has a medium to long line all day. Big Thunder is the same with the line situation; although Big Thunder is not as popular as Splash. I would suggest visiting those rides early in the morning or late in the afternoon. Attempting to ride during the day would result in a long wait. Fastpasses are available for both of these attractions and will help cut down on wait times. Splash has the better Fastpass line of the two in my opinion, it gets you closer to the front of the line. Frontierland is built for the young adult, teen, college student and adults.
I would hit this part of the park first off or Tomorrowland because of the bog draw for the bigger attractions of the Magic Kingdom. But do remember both of the major attractions support Fastpasses. This land is not very suitable for young kids say 8 or younger. The shops and restaurants are fashioned after the old west. The BBQ is pretty good in this land and the shopping has some amazing cowboy boots, hats, vests and other accessories.
