So when we decided to relinquish our home and let it go back to the seller, people were shocked. The American dream practically revolves around home ownership. Yet here we were eager to give our home back and leave it behind us.
Circumstances were such that we were only a few years into our mortgage and had barely scratched the surface of our principal with our monthly payments mostly going to interest. Houses are a hard sale in this economy; and our mobile home wasn't worth what we still owed on it. We couldn't find a buyer willing to buy it for the price we would need to get out from under it that way.
Time was definitely a factor. My husband was offered a very nice promotion and benefits package along with completely paid moving expenses if he would just take a job in another state to help get some newly acquired stores going for his company. The kicker was he had to leave almost immediately to go to work and we had to be moved within a month.
There just wasn't time to find a buyer at the price we needed. And instead of being laid off, or down-sized; my husband was actually being promoted and handsomely compensated.
How could we say no to such a blessing? All around us we were hearing complaints about money, the economy, the banking industry, government bailouts; and something like this just fell into our laps.
We couldn't say no. A better life for our family was worth way more than losing a few years of payments that we would have made out in rent anyway.
Sometimes opportunities don't come in the package you expect. They sometimes come in completely unexpected forms.
You have to be open to accepting more into your life. And then be on the lookout for the way that "more" is going to come to you.
Think abundantly. Be ready to grab a hold of whatever comes into your life that will allow you to achieve your goals and dreams.
