We love our snacks:A look at what snacks are good for you and what snacks are bad
One of the greatest indulgences that we have is snacking, we get that little bit of craving between meals and search for something usually sweet or salty.Americas favorite snacks include candy, cookies, pretzels, popcorn and chips.I wanted to take a look at which of our favorite snacks are good for you and which are bad,you may be surprised to see what I dug up.

Making the best snacks list is popcorn.Microwave popcorn is generally 98% fat free, which in itself is a plus,so you don't have to feel bad when you drizzle a little bit of butter of the top, just don't get carried away.

Fruit smoothies, this tasty treat can back itself as being a complete snack that can sustain urges and temptations, use low fat yogurt and fresh fruit such as bananas to make it more justifiable.

Cereal, this is a favorite snack of the young and young at heart and it's not just for breakfast anymore, feel confident with a whole grain low sugar choice.
Peanut butter, although this yummy tongue tantalizing spread is loaded with calories it can really satisfy in even small amounts.

Chocolate, yes,I said chocolate.A huge margin of people love their candy bars as a snack but instead of a Snickers or Almond Joy grab a Hershey's chocolate bar and only eat about half as treat to yourself,it'll help to curb those chocolate lover cravings.

Ice cream, many people love to indulge in this frozen dairy delight and you still can without feeling guilty.Choose a low fat brand of ice cream and skip the toppings and cone.

Coming at at number one as always is,fresh vegetables. This is one snack that you can get carried away with by themselves bar none the best for you but if you must dip choose a lower fat version of ranch dip.

Now,the worst list ,cookies these should only be eaten on minimal occasions because they are loaded with sugars.
Cakes, birthdays are fine but don't over do it because one slice of cake could result in over 400 calories.

Granola bars,I know shocker right? And here's the kicker, the more chewy the granola bar the higher in fat content,so if this is something you really crave look up a recipe to make your own at home.

Cheese and crackers,a party time favorite.Cheese is itself is high in calories so if you still want that party platter buy 2% low fat cheese and whole grain crackers.

Chips or nachos,no game could be complete without them and although most chips are now cooked in Canola oils the fact is this is a snack that just about everyone overeats.

Want to lose a little weight, snack happy! Here is a list of "superfoods" for adults to aid in weight loss:Green Tea,adding green tea to your diet helps to stimulate calorie burning in the body.Soups(especially broth and tomato based),soups are generally low in calories and very satisfying.Low calorie green salads, choose the more popular alternative, baby spinach and vegetables with a low fat or fat free dressing.Yogurt, this little snack helps to give weight loss an advantage by giving you at least 300 milligrams of your needed calcium.

Beans, eating beans helps to give you a fuller feeling and are an excellent source of fiber and protein.Water, drinking lots of water daily you tend to eat less food and still have that satisfied feeling.Light diet shakes, replacing one meal a day(usually breakfast or lunch),with a diet shake can help in maintaining weight loss.Whole grain cereal, good as a meal or snack, helps in boosting fiber intake.Grapefruit,a great fruit to help lower the sugar levels in your body.Fresh fruits and vegetables, this is something you can never go wrong with, loaded with vitamins and minerals it is a feel good food and your body will love you for it.

Healthy snacks for the kids,of course back to the fresh fruits and vegetables, let them try new things and experiment with fresh fruits and vegetables.Fruits and yogurt smoothies, they think it's just a tasty drink but they are getting calcium and vitamins as well.

Cereal, you gave it to them as toddlers let them eat it as snack, whole grain cereals give them the grains that their bodies need.Peanut butter on whole grain bread,my kids like Iron Kids bread and I am more than happy to spend that little extra to buy it.

Enjoy your snacks but think twice about what kind of snack you are grabbing. If you have that craving for something sweet or salty eat it in moderation,it only takes a small amount to curb that craving.
