We really like it here. Shady Acres RV Park is not fancy i.e. no one asked how old our RV is but there are plenty of $200,000 rigs. The spaces are somewhat tight but we do have a patio and a picnic table. The people are very friendly including the staff and campers.
You may read that Shady Acres is an "old Florida type campground." What we decided that meant is many of the units are old travel trailers with a screen house or enclosed room making them look old, which they are. What you are more likely to see in other campgrounds (and a few here as well) are "park models" which look like houses (and are) but built for campgrounds.
There are very few children here so other than an occasional plane or train the campground is quiet. The office has a few RV supplies and just today I noticed that they put in a chip and cookie display. We have plenty of trees and the campground is very clean.
A small lake with a fountain adorns the middle of the campground. There are benches overlooking the lake. There are so many activities that I will send you to the website for a list of all of them. There is a new sports complex with a beautiful set up of horseshoes and shuffleboard complete with a viewer's stand.
The pool is very pretty. It was opened the day after we came. Every morning there is a water aerobics class.
There is always something going on: bingo, a New Years' Eve party, clogging classes, a giant chessboard on the grounds, a weekly fire ring gathering - you name it - it is probably here. What is missing is a fitness room.
A very nice man showed us to our site and helped my husband back in. At 25' we are one of just a few small rigs. There is free Internet at our site and it works! Although the website says there is a cafe we have not seen it!
An unusual feature which I have not encountered is a card for the laundry. We don't have to worry about having enough quarters. We just put in the card in a slot on the machine and when we leave we'll pay for our laundry use.
Pets are welcomes except for Dobermans, Rotweillers, Pit Bulls, or Chow.
We would definitely come back here especially for $22.00. That rate is not good for January, February and March. Although they also take Good Sam again for those three months no discounts are available.
