High heels became popular during the reign of Queen Elizabeth, and since then have continued to be in the vogue. Exuding elegance and femininity, heels are worn to almost any type of social occasion from weddings to professional conferences; heels help you make a statement about your confidence as women.

Short women are cute, but most of us have an instant boost of confidence when they add a little height. High heels not only make us appear taller but they give the illusion that we have thinner and shapelier legs.

By tilting your position forward on the toe, wearing heels makes your legs and whole figure appear slimmer. The effect is maximized by wearing the highest heels you can tolerate. This can be a real attitude booster on a first date. Just remember to wear heels for a minimal amount of time. You can enjoy even the highest heels without foot pain. Stiletto heels are sexy. Limping on your first date is not.

You can vamp up your sex appeal wearing heals with jeans and a tee shirt on special occasions. Casual summer dresses become even more girlish and flirty when teamed with a coy and sexy high heeled summer sandal with straps. Our sex appeal just in general seems to be increased by making our calf muscles seem sexier and pushing out our breast and buttocks. There are problems inherent in wearing heels too often or incorrectly.

Knee trouble is common with tall heels being the culprit The crest of the slope causes increased strain on the knee and associated tendons. When the slope of the heel is consistently high, the calf muscle and contract the Achilles tendon this can lead to a women not being able to wear flat shoes comfortably any longer.

Changes in the balance when walking in heels leads to instability of the foot. This can cause the ankle to twist. The resulting problem is the of risk ankle sprains. There are ways to wearing high heels and lower the risk of damage to your foot.

Dress first lowest heels possible for daily use.Taking along sneakers to walk long distances. on concrete city sidewalks. Put your heels back on when you reach your destination. Practice walking in new heels at the store. Walk on flat and carpeted surfaces to get the feel of the shoe on different flooring.

Walking or dancing in heels can be a daunting experience for the uninitiated. Practice at home with the stereo on and hold on to the back of a chair. Lift your legs up and down and do half turns holding on to the chair. Practice walking on an invisible line when you have your balance. Soon you will feel comfortable doing your moves in high heels. Be sure to break in new heels before an evening of dancing to minimize sore feet. You can always soak your feet in Epsom salt after an evening out and you will be as good as new the next morning.
