Your webcam is a personal gadget, but it can be hacked and watched by another person. You would not want any other person to watch you while you are using your webcam without your permission. This is why you have to protect your webcam from being hacked to also protect yourself.
Just follow these steps to protect your webcam from hackers and to keep your privacy.
Enable your firewall. To do this open Window and select Start, then click All Programs, followed by clicking the Accessories option, the System Tools option and the Security Center. Here select the enable firewall option. You may also download a more sophisticated firewall if you like using CNET. Some firewall can be downloaded for free and some you have to pay to use its services.
Install an anti virus and a spyware detection program. Having an anti virus installed is not enough protection for your webcam; it should be paired with a strong spyware detection program. Make sure that these programs are functioning well in order to ensure your protection. There are several anti-virus and spyware programs that can be downloaded for free. You can search these programs in CNET.
If you are using a wireless router or a wireless webcam, make sure that your WEP, WPA or security key is enabled. This is because a wireless connection is highly hackable and any hacker is just on the watch for any open connection that it can hack. Use an encrypted security key that is highly dependable in order to really get the best protection from hackers. Bear in mind, the WEP is now outdated and can be hacked. Make sure that you install a security program that is highly secured and updated.
Now that you know these steps, you can now follow these and protect your webcam from hackers. This will make you more comfortable and worry free in using your webcam because you are sure that no one is watching you while you are using your webcam.
Protect your webcam and yourself from those who would want to intrude with your privacy. Enjoy!
