Webmail Administrator E-mail Phishing Scam
Have you recently received an e-mail from Webmail Administrator or admin@alert-security.com with the subject line "General Mailbox Upgrade Process"? Just ignore and delete this e-mail phishing scam or better yet if you use Microsoft Office Outlook, click on "Block Sender" to mark this e-mail from Webmail Administrator as junk e-mail and spam.

E-mail From Webmail Administrator Cause for Concern?
It's annoying because this e-mail from Webmail Administrator got past Microsoft Office and Norton Antivirus' spam filters. The way these e-mail phishing programs work is to try to solicit personal and private account information from individuals by making it sound like if you do not respond your account will be closed. So how do you know with this e-mail about "General Mailbox Upgrade Process" from Webmail Administrator is not a real legitimate e-mail from your e-mail provider?

How do You Know Webmail Administrator is Not Legitimate?
The e-mail is addressed "Dear Email Account Owner". Most e-mail companies have your first and last name when you sign up or at the very least the name of the e-mail account your created. Usually, e-mails from companies will take the time to personalize the correspondence. In addition, a legitimate company would most likely provide the information they already know and just ask for confirmation. Often the e-mail is sent from a mass e-mail but confirmation is done by clicking onto a website.

Webmail Administrator is an E-mail Phishing Scam
There is no official e-mail listed like Google gmail, Yahoo or Verizon. So how do you even know what account they are talking about? This e-mail phishing company is hoping that you will just blindly list any and all e-mail accounts because you are panicked and don't want your account shutdown. Webmail Administrator even goes so far as to try to legitimize the e-mail by including an irrelevant warning code "VX2G99AAJ". Clever, sneaky and downright manipulative.

Still Concerned Your E-mail Might Be Shutdown?
If you're still concerned your e-mail might be shutdown in 7 days, regardless of this e-mail or any other e-mails you might receive, never reply by e-mail. Never provide personal account information by clicking on links either. Always contact your e-mail provider's customer service information, calling by phone or e-mailing any legitimate address found on the official website. Go through the official website to verify any e-mail information. Be careful about updating this kind of information through wireless networks. Try to do so on wired DSL to prevent any identity theft.
