Website Review: Cafemom

The Best Site for Moms to Connect

Jamicka Holloway
There is only one that I have heard of. A website where I can connect with moms in my area or in other parts of the country. The site that I almost always spend my free time visiting is called Cafemom. Cafemom is a great site for moms all over the USA to connect with other moms to share stories, vent, talk about family, and other things that happen in everyday life. It is also a great place to meet new friends and learn new things. When you are visiting Cafemom for the first time, you will not know where to start because there are so many fun things to do including:

1. Setting up your profile page! You can upload your own photo of yourself or choose one of their photos as your avatar! Fill in the details within your profile by briefly giving a description of yourself. There is also the Advanced Customization tool to be utilized for creating your own background. You have the advantage of choosing different colors for text and fonts. Simply put, you can create the page the way that you like it.

2. Widgets! These are definitely my favorite. You can choose from different types of widgets to customize your page. Some examples of the widgets that Cafemom has to offer are creating a guest book, making a Meez character, creating a virtual avatar of yourself, creating glitter text, and many more widgets to make your page symbolize your life.

3. Post a Journal Entry! Aha! This another one of my favorites because I simply adore writing about any and everything. Who doesn't like to write? Cafemom members are known to post some really interesting topics. I love to read what other moms have to say then my post my comment by giving them feedback to their entries!

4. Creating or Joining Groups. You can connect with other moms with common interest when you either start a group of your own or join the one that interests you. If you assume that there are only a few groups that interest you, you are sadly mistaken. Cafemom has groups by the thousand that will be entertaining to almost any mom. Perhaps, there are a little too many to choose from anyway!

5. Cafemom Marketplace. This is where moms have the opportunity of listing all of their products they have for sell or to post information about their home businesses. This section in Cafemom is very useful when you are looking for a supplemental home based business that is fun and one that will bring an income in the family household.

That is just a little of what Cafemom has to offer. It is a wonderful site for moms to gossip, swap recipes, and having contests once in awhile. So, if you are a mom and are looking for a place to meet other moms over the Internet, I will have to recommend you to join Cafemom. You will love it there and will not regret any bit of it.

    THIS IS MY HUMBLE OPINION:
NOT a place for real moms, in the real world, looking for real advice and solutions. I am KICKING myself for spending 2 weeks as a member.
A real example of what happened to me: I stated that skin is an organ. It is a fact that skin is the human body's largest organ. Not only did people LOL at me and suggest I was stupid, one 'member' in particular DEBATED with me that skin is NOT an organ AND repeatedly RIDICULED me, in reference to skin being an organ. It's one thing to not know skin is an organ, it is quite another to DEBATE it!
After reading repeated posts from 'women' (and I write 'women' because who really knows who these people are) asking 'What can I do, What can I do', my husband has been accused of RAPE! or my husband just CHOKED me! or My baby just spilled 10 oz of formula and I have NO MONEY to buy anymore until my WIC comes in next week. I HAD ENOUGH!!!
I wasn't seeking out these posts, these are posts in the public groups hosted by
