Website Review- IGN.Com

Formely known as the Imagine Games Network, many gamers will know IGN.com for its multimedia news and reviews of gaming. IGN's network includes websites such as GameSpy, and Rotten Tomatoes. You would think that being one of the largest video game websites must be hard, but IGN.com makes it look easy.

So just how incredible is IGN.com? Luckily for you, this review should tell you what you need to know about IGN, and its many features. We'll focus on the good, the bad, and the ugly as we jump into the world of gaming. Design, creativity, writing, and features of IGN will all be put to the ulimate test, lets hope they can take it and remain one of the greatest video game websites out there.

Design-

In terms of design, IGN has a very nice interface. On the front page you will see tons of gaming news headlines, and on the side you see different options for the many popular video gaming systems. Everything is very easy to find, and even advertisements have their own space to call home. However, the only downfall of IGN is the advertisements.

Even though the advertisements can be disabled if you become a member of their paying club, surely many people find these ad's surpsingly annoying. Even for a user with broadband, coming to this website and being attacked by advertisements isn't worth the trouble. If we were judging based on justIGN'sdesign, then the website would get a perfect 10 out of 10.

Creativity-

Sadly, in video game review/preview websites, no rock has been left unturned. Every idea or feature has been done at least 20 times over by websites and companies all over the world.IGN is, however, pretty creative in terms of April Fools Jokes that they play every year, and the design of the website itself. They also seem to report on unique news whether it be about video games or movies.

IGN also from time to time has interviews with models, movie stars, rock stars, and so on. Needless to say, IGN also has a number of unique contests for users to enjoy. If you choose to pay for membership of IGN, then you get exclusive news and videos of a wide range of multimedia.

Writing-

Gladly, IGNhas very good writers. Also, every single writer they have has a very good sense of humor. It just so happens that humor is a good thing when it comes to writing on video game websites, you don't want to read something that's really boring do you? IGN is great for entertainment, and great for video game cheats, walk throughs, reviews, and previews also.

Features-

Speaking of reviews and previews, IGN has both for a good number of systems. They don't just review console games either, they also review PC games, and even Xbox Live games. Thankfully, they also have guides and cheats for retro games aside from just about every console and PC game cheat you can possibly think of.

Users will be happy to know that they can also submit guides and cheats for their favorite names in gaming. Also, anime fans will be jumping for joy once they see the anime section of the website, which has reviews and previews of the newest anime on television or DVD. Only bad thing is, they tend to only talk about popular anime such as Bleach, or Naruto on IGN.

There isn't much else you can do to improve IGN.com, everything from the writers to the features are amazing. Perhaps the only downside to the website is the advertisements and lag you experience while visiting the website. That, and the insiders club, which seems to be a rip off when you can just go to some free gaming news website to save time and money.

Thankfully, those downsides can be looked over. Just try to stay in the free area's of the website, IGN offers some very interesting news articles on gaming, so be sure not to pass this website up just because it has a paid section.
