Website Review: Www.8mcdo.Com

McDonald's is famous for its great tasting burgers and other foods to go. One of the features most loved by its patrons is food delivery. Usually, you'd have to call them in order to have food delivered to your place. Here in the Philippines, all you have to do is to dial 8-MCDO (8-6236) from any phone. We call McDonald's "McDo" as a nickname. A few years back (around 2 or so) I came upon www.8mcdo.com and its main purpose is to be able to offer online order for food delivery. I really liked the option to have food delivery transactions done online.

The process is pretty simple. You just have to go to the website and you'll see their menu immediately with all the selections that are available for delivery. On that menu; you can choose what you'd like and if there are any options available for it, you can select them as well. It's like, if you want to order a Big Mac which usually is included in a value meal, you can choose if you'd like to go with the meal and you can select what type of beverage you would want with the burger. You can also add French fries with the meal and you can choose if you want to go with the large size drinks and fries. After choosing what to have, you can add it to your list and after you've finished choosing what to order, you need to fill out the online form.

You would have to enter your information such as name, address, phone number (and cellular phone number just in case) and others such as instructions (I've always wanted a bunch of sachets of ketchup) and directions so as the delivery man would not get lost. After filling up all the information, after you hit submit, wait for them to call you (usually within 5 minutes) to confirm your order and then the food will be delivered. They guarantee a 30 minute delivery however in some cases wherein the location you are in is far from the branch where the food will come from, it may take up to 45 minutes and in rare cases up to an hour.

As with any other delivery service, they may commit a few mistakes. Just call their branch directly if you need to and the rider would return if there is something wrong or missing. It rarely happens though and since you ordered from the website; it will be more accurate rather than speaking to them since misunderstanding often occurs.

One very good feature is that it is available 24 hours a day but it is only available to customers within Manila and Cebu cities. Provinces and other places in the country can only order online until the McDonald's branch their area closes and not all provinces are available for delivery. There is a minimum charge of 165 Pesos (it hasn't changed since the update) per transaction. It's low enough for two meals or if you want (which is mostly what I do) you can have a big meal all by yourself. The website has been updated recently and was not available for a couple of weeks/few months. Right now, it still has the same feel as with the previous layout but with more nifty features such as drag and drop and a very important security feature. They were very susceptible to pranks and the new feature (verification code) would lessen the risk of having prank orders.

Nevertheless, it is a very convenient way of ordering food especially when you are at home or doing something important that you can't go out to buy the food yourself. It's pretty efficient and they are always on standby to receive any online order. Happy eating and eat moderately.
