First, think about how big or elaborate you want your wedding favors to be. Most favors are fairly small, but noticeable enough that guests see how the favors match other wedding décor, and attractive enough so that guests want to take the favors home with them. Larger favors could also work well, especially if you're using the favors for place settings or table centerpieces at the reception.
Next, think about the statement you want your unique wedding favors to make. Do you want something more traditional, such as small wedding bells or a heart, accented with ribbons, pearls, or lace? Or would you rather have wedding favors that you know are completely original? Your wedding favors, like the rest of your wedding decorations, such be a personal reflection of your own style and preferences. Certain symbols or objects that are symbols of a couple's commitment or interests are wonderful to use as wedding favors. For example, if you and your fiancé are both avid readers, a small book with your own personal accents could be a wonderful original wedding favor. Other unique wedding favors could include favors shaped as pets (i.e. a kitten or puppy) if you're both animal lovers, religious symbols to reflect your beliefs as a couple, or larger centerpieces, like scented decorated candles or elaborate floral arrangements. The materials you use for your wedding favors say a lot, too. Using fabrics like silk or satin add a classy touch to any wedding favor, and while using the colors of the wedding decorations for the favors is traditional, favors in all white or all black add a very classy touch to any wedding favor, and provide good contrast against the rest of the decorations.
Decide what exactly you want you wedding favors to say. Of course, you'll want to include your name, and your mate's name, along with the date and year of your wedding ceremony. But, if you want to add something extra, such as a line from a poem about love, a phrase that is special to the two of you, a Bible verse, or a tribute to your loved ones. If you're purchasing your wedding favors, make sure you know the exact word and letter count, so that you can stay within your wedding budget.
You can make your wedding favors yourself if you want to be especially original and save money, or you can order wedding favors from wedding companies. You can find wedding companies online that specialize in wedding favors, or popular craft stores in your area that may be able to offer you handmade wedding favors at an affordable rate. Whatever you decide, you should talk to your wedding planner about which favors will look best with the rest of your wedding decorations and leave the best lasting impression with your guests. Above all, you want your wedding favors not only to look beautiful, but to be just one more way to make your wedding day one that you and your guests will remember fondly for years to come.
