Wedding Color Combinations for Spring 2010

When it comes to planning the "look" of your wedding, it's all about the color. From the dresses the bridesmaids wear to the flowers in your table arrangements, color plays an essential and important role in the overall tone of your wedding ceremony and reception. Choosing a color scheme and sticking to it is one of the most vital things you can do when creating a beautiful, uniform look on your wedding day.

While trying to choose your wedding colors, you should take the season into consideration. Some colors will reflect the time of year better than others. For a spring wedding in the year 2010, skip the Easter inspired pastels and opt for brighter hues. Vibrant pinks, yellows, and greens will still reflect the season of spring while adding personality, style and flair into your overall wedding scheme. Here are some vibrant and beautiful color combinations to consider for your spring 2010 wedding.

Pinks

While you may be tempted to skip pink in fear it will send your groom running, pink actually meshes well with more masculine colors like blue and green. Some hot pink color combinations to consider are:

Bubblegum pink and turquoise Blue. This color combo combines the feminine pink with the masculine blue without evoking thoughts of children's nurseries. Both colors are extremely bright and lively, so they look great together. Consider having your bridesmaids dress in both colors, such as a bubblegum pink dress with a turquoise blue sash. Carry the colors into your tablecloths, wedding cake, bridal bouquet and other wedding decor.

Peony pink and lime green. While peony pink is a light shade, the vibrant lime green will make it appear brighter without making your wedding color scheme look neon. This color scheme works particularly well for outdoor spring affairs, as the lime green will usually complement any greenery outside. For your bouquet, consider pink peonies hand-tied together with a lime green ribbon. Have your brides dress in alternating dresses in both colors. Implement the colors throughout all of your wedding decor, from your linens to your centerpieces.

Greens

Green is the perfect color to use for a spring wedding, as this is the time of year that tress and flowers begin to bloom and turn green again. Green is a very versatile color that looks great with most other colors, however, there are several color combinations that work particularly well with green.

Mint green and turquoise blue. Like peony pink and lime green, the brightness of the turquoise blue will make the mint green color look richer and more lively. Carry these colors into all aspects of your wedding. For your bouquet, stick with simple white flowers hand-tied with ribbons in both colors.

Emerald green and yellow. Both of these colors are extremely rich and vibrant. They look great together simply because of the contrast created by the darkness of the emerald green compared to the lightness of the yellow. A wide variety of yellow flowers are in season during the springtime, including tulips and roses. A cascading bouquet with hints of greenery showing through is an excellent way to carry this color scheme into your wedding.

Yellows

Add a hint of sunshine to your special day by using yellow in your color scheme. Yellow is another versatile color that complements most other colors. The color can also be carried outside of your traditional decor and into your beverage menu with lemonade and lemon drop martinis.

Butter yellow and fuchsia pink. These two bright colors look great together and are extremely easy to decorate with. Many flowers in both colors are available during the spring, so your bouquets and table centerpieces can easily be ordered to match the decor. Fuchsia pink table cloths with butter yellow table runners will create bright, welcoming table decorations that your guests will adore.

Sunshine yellow and lilac. Yellow and purple are naturally complementary colors, so these two shades were meant for each other. The vibrancy of the sunshine yellow will bring out the color in the lilac purple without appearing overwhelming. Yellow bridesmaid dresses with lilac colored shoes and hair accessories will carry the wedding decor into your wedding party attire.
