Wedding Crochet Ideas

If you want something special and homemade to add a personal touch to your big day, consider these wedding crochet ideas.

Decorations

Crochet thread makes the most heirloom quality creations for your wedding. That said, consider your decorations in a bright white or classic ivory thread, with delicate details. Shell stitch bridal bell decorations are beautiful and you can create a pair of them per decoration topped with one of your wedding colors in a stain ribbon and fused pearls. You can use these in combination with your centerpiece, on a display table, or even hanging above.

Candy baskets are another great addition to your wedding table. Make miniature baskets out of crochet thread, deck them with a contrasting color flower or ribbons, and fill them with wedding Almonds or other candies. These can be used by the flower girls also if you make them a bit larger and fill them with flowers. Either way they make an elegant addition to your wedding ambiance.

If you plan on having vases with flowers in them as your centerpiece than consider making vase covers. These can be slipped onto the vase to cover the stems of real flowers or silk ones. Also, napkin rings are easy to whip up and can be done in a matching stitch to pull the centerpiece together with each table setting.

Favors

You can even use crocheted items for your favors. A lacy sachet can be created and filled with candy or potpourri. Maybe you want to add a little personal touch to your wedding favor votives by making a cover for the glass. A shell stitch or any other open work design would be great. If you have a lot of them to make you might consider enlisting more people to make them. The design should be simple and elegant and completed in a relatively short amount of time. You can also sew or purchase mini pouches in a suitable color satin and crochet a border around the opening to save you time, but still individualize your wedding favors.

Brides only

If you aren't that ambitious to make more than one or two handmade crochet items for your wedding, than make something that there is only one or two of. You can crochet the bridal garter, covers for the bride and groom's glasses, and even make a gift bag where guests place their cards. And for those with more traditional style weddings, you can make the ring bearer's pillow for a great way to showcase your talent overtly. Whatever you choose to do, crocheting wedding items will add something special to the ceremony.
