Wedding Dress Alternatives for Second Marriages

Jane Vee
Second marriages should have weddings as special as a first wedding. Today's society is a little more forgiving of a second marriage, so you can wear a white wedding gown and no one will think anything about how many times you have been married or how many children you have. If you are trying to make your wedding as special as the first one is supposed to be, but want to stay away from white bridal gowns, here are a few suggestions for you.

If you want a white dress, but not a gown, you may want to look in the prom dress section of any dress retailer. A simple white gown would be a beautiful dress for any wedding. Choose an A-shaped dress or a straight dress. If you want a little decoration on it add lace to the edges of the hem around the bottom of the dress, the neckline, sleeves or even around the straps. You can use the same lace to make a bow for your hair.

Another choice for a second marriage wedding dress is any prom dress. Choose the colors of your wedding and buy a prom dress to match. Prom dresses are quite elaborate and would make a wonderful wedding dress. Most prom gowns come in multiple sizes and can be altered just as a wedding gown would be.

If you want to wear a veil, you can easily match a veil to a dress. You can buy a wedding veil from a bridal shop that has colored accents. You have a choice of colors to choose from and you might actually want to choose your veil before choosing a dress. If you choose a white veil with green accents you could purchase a green gown, a white dress, or a white and green gown. When shopping for the perfect wedding dress for a second marriage, your options are not limited.

If a prom dress is a little to elaborate for the wedding you had in mind, you may want to choose a cocktail dress. A cocktail dress is a formal dress, but it is more mature. An evening gown may also be considered for a less formal wedding dress. An evening gown is a lovely choice for the bride that has "done it all" before.

If you are looking for a casual outfit as a second wedding dress, you might want to choose a business outfit, a Sunday dress, or even a casual dress. Depending on how casual you want your wedding to be you could even go with a plain dress with no frills or decorations. You could even choose a relaxed theme for your wedding and dress for the theme.

Wedding dresses can be what you choose and the more casual the event the less likely you will be to want to wear a gown. Dress appropriately for your choice of wedding. There are plenty of choices for what you want to wear.

I am getting married (for the first time) and have no interest in a wedding dress or its costs. I care about comfort- a cocktail or prom dress may be fun- I never went to prom so it would be a fun novelty- even more so and cheaper than a wedding gown :)

Great tips! Thank you for sharing! I'm about to attempt my third wedding and was wondering how "special" it can/should be since my first 2 were bare as bones. The tips you provided gave me insight on what I could try without being over-the-top.
