Wedding Gift Ideas for a Coworker

Buying gifts is not the easiest task in the world. Some of us have no sense of gift-giving whereas for others it comes naturally. This task grows more difficult for weddings and even more so if you don't know the person as a friend or family, but only as a coworker. This shouldn't be the daunting task it seems to be at first. There are solutions that are quick and simple and that will make the bride and groom happy.

The number one wedding gift to give for anyone is cold, hard, cash. While many of us have been trained that cash is not a good gift, this rule does not apply to weddings. In fact, many couples ask only for cash gifts. If you are married, you know how difficult it can be starting a new family and a little extra money goes a long way toward getting into a comfortable position. If you want to give cash to your coworker for their wedding, it should not be less than $100. It doesn't have to be more, but you must judge who that person is to you, their lifestyle, and what you can afford. If you work together as store clerks $100 is fine. If you are high-powered entertainment attorneys, pulling in upper six-figures or even seven, then you should, of course, go higher.

Find a gift that is basic and not too personal on the registry. Kitchen appliances and small knick-knack items work well. You may not have enough information for concert or event tickets. In this case, look for something everyone does-eating. Get them a $100 gift certificate to a nice restaurant. It doesn't have to be Nobu, but it shouldn't be Applebee's either. Make it something special that they will remember.
